That might have been part of it. Also lost trust in the organization when they tried to make him play before he felt ready. Maybe he thought San Antonio was boring, there isn't even a basement in the Alamo.
It's almost always a combination of things.

I feel like Lakers are a lock for Kawhi. Simply because he wanted west coast and he can just play ball and let LBJ and AD do all the talking.

It’s the best bet if he wants to continue his load management. Take 20 games off and let LeBron and AD carry the load. The West is pretty weak this season. It’s pretty much LA, Utah, Houston as the top 3 seeds. Portland and Denver probably battle it out for 4. Oklahoma City is locked into their good not great team for a few years and who knows what’s going to happen with Golden State now that they have even less depth and Klay is out most of the season. Clippers are decent, but I’d imagine they regress a little this season. Kings were almost there, but made some bizarre choices this offseason. Spurs probably get the 8 seed and make a small run, because they are the Spurs. Minnesota and Dallas are wild cards, they could fall on either end of the spectrum. The rest is the usual gang of lovable losers (Suns, etc.) and teams that are just too young (Pelicans, etc.).
Personally I’m pulling for Utah in the West this season. I don’t really trust Donovan Mitchell, but I love Mike Conley and hope he gets to play in the Finals before his careee ends.

Thought Tolliver could’ve helped us. Nice pickup by Portland. Definitely a Stotts player.

Re: ATL: Free Agency
Kawhi grew up a Laker fan in LA.
Many of us if given the opportunity would do the same with the Bucks. Can’t hate him for it.

So any early predictions of disgruntled stars? Beal, George, Griffin, Booker?
Could we have the assets to pick up any?

Re: ATL: Free Agency
If Kawhi goes to LAL then I'd argue it's worse/more cowardly than KD to the Warriors for the simple fact that he just proved that he can win a championship on his own/as the man. Why the hell would you not keep trying while still in your prime and with a pretty wide open league this year?

Disagree:
KD had just lost to that team after having them on the ropes, and then wanted a free ride by said team. So soft.

Among all the madness, MCW will somehow make it another year in the league.

If he had just pissed away a 3-1 lead to the Lakers, Lebron or AD then sure you might have a point

Re: ATL: Free Agency
They'll get players obviously but Lakers will be a hot mess if Kawhi doesn't go there.
League could be incredible if he goes to the Clippers.
