Have to remember though, we got the Clippers without Kawhi, Minnesota without KAT, Miami without Jimmy.

It has been easy. Thinking these teams will clearly finish ahead of Indy:

Bucks
Philly
Toronto
Boston
Heat

If you buy that, Indy if finishes no higher than 6th seed. And given West > East that projects to pick #17.

I’d still be down to use this pick in exchange for another Mirotic level player. Think that working out so poorly was very fluky. Title window before Giannis’s contract decision is still right now.

I think they're probably 6th or 7th. Range of 4th (Oladipo is back) to 9th. There are really only 11 teams in the East I can imagine being in the playoffs. Charlotte's .500 now but they will be lucky to win mid 30s with Monk currently solidifying his bust status, to my dismay.

I expect that we will trade the pick. I'm still undecided on what I actually would like to do with it; I guess it probably depends on what the trade options out there are.

I get that but it’s not really relevant to how bad the Indiana competition has been. I just imagine they are getting to hit a wall soon. If they finished with the 8th seed I couldn’t imagine a better outcome

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

I'm thinking Davis Bertans - he's an even better shooter than Mirotic, but his rebounding and defense are poor. He'd also be a rental and probably cost less than Mirotic did.

Mirotic will make a nice life for himself, and doesn’t care what I think. But he will forever be on my list of all time nba underachievers. He could have had a 10-12 year career and either been a 6th man type on a contender, or a decent starter and scorer for a fringe playoff team.

Pacers are now 18-9 and that is before Victor might return (?) from knee injury.

Pick is slotted at #20 overall at the moment.

Based on the competition in the East and West, plausible this pick could drop down to #24 or #25 depending on where the other east teams like Miami, Philly, Boston, Toronto end up. And out West there are some teams that might drop above or below (Utah, Denver, etc.)

Maybe I'm just stubbornly sticking to my pre-season projections, but still not all that convinced the Pacers are a good team. Looking at their wins:

Nets (2)
Cavs
Magic
Grizz
Pistons
Hornets
OKC (2)
Hawks (2)
Knicks
Wizards
Celtics
Bulls
Jazz

2-4 against teams over .500, and the fact that only 6 of their 27 games thus far have been against winning teams should give you an idea of how ridiculously easy their schedule has been.

Being paid extremely well while drinking sangrias and eating paellas in Barcelona is significantly more preferable to being paid grossly well and live in the US for us Euros

I've lived in Barcelona for almost a year. Amazing place. That's not to say America doesn't have nice places as well, but ultimately you gotta do what makes YOU happy, and it seems like Mirotic has figured it out.

Wonder if the Boston board has a Bucks draft pick watch.

They have the potential to be a better version of the team that whooped us last year and gave LeBron all he could handle in the playoffs. Their starters have the second best net rating in the league, they're deep, have tons of size and shooting. The weakest starter is Lamb, who is still quite good and will be moved to the bench once Oladipo gets back. A healthy Oladipo can get them to elite status.

I like Victor, but people act like he's the 2nd coming of Kobe sometimes. He's a very good player coming off a very serious injury.

Yes, the Pacers have had one of the easiest schedules in the league. However, none of you are acknowledging the amount of injuries that have plagued the Pacers to this point. The Pacers are not just missing Oladipo, they have been routinely playing without 2-3 starters, and often times 5 rotational players all season. I would doubt another NBA team has as many unique starting lineups than the Pacers to this point. Easy schedule for sure. But consider who all they have been playing without.

Look at the first Bucks game as just one reference. The Pacers were without their 2 deep at both point guard and shooting guard. Brogdon, Oladipo, Lamb, TJ McConnell all out. This has been a recurring theme. Of course though, the Pacers are in Indiana, where the team is ignored, meanwhile Anthony Davis misses one game and it's the running excuse for the Lakers for a week.
