Not sure what it is, but after looking forward to Outer Worlds I’m struggling to muster the desire to play it. I just got back on my ship after the first main mission and already feel like I’m done.

I feel the same way but can't put my finger on why that is.

I've heard from some others on a podcast that it's a game you almost need to play on harder modes. Having finished it on whatever Normal is, I can definitely say that's the case. On the base difficulties there's basically no challenge to the game. You'll go through collecting tons and tons of weapons that won't really need managing. You won't have to worry about weapon mods once. The companions are bullet sponges for you. There are five unique weapons to find but you'll never use them ever because it's easier to just beef up the assault rifle or shotgun you like with the nearly unlimited resources you come upon. Fights are breeze, of course.
So if you want to feel like you're not just going through the motions, make the game harder.

The game is bonkers easy. I restarted about 15h in. I am still only about 15h into my second attempt and harder play through, but I can certainly agree with this. That said, I also have left it for about 3 weeks now. But I think that's more of an "I'm addicted to PoE" and "I travel a lot" thing, rather than an "I don't like Outer Worlds" thing. But who knows.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Bought a switch Friday, my wife happened to be out and about Friday and just swung into Target quick and they had the MarioKart + Switch for $298 so she picked it up. Right now I just have MarioKart, Heave Ho (Awesome cheap game) and Lego Worlds (for our daughter and my wife to screw around with). Anyone have any suggestions for fun games my wife and I could play together? Shes not a big gamer by any stretch but she enjoys some as long as they aren't too complicated. I like the quick games you can finish in 5 minutes or so or something where we can explore/work together. (Rocket League is probably my most frequently played game on Ps4 lol). Not a huge fan of the game styles of Overcooked or Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime but everyone seems to love them.

I like Mario Party with a group, it can be short and it’s a blast with the mini games. Minecraft is very fun to explore as well and can be any pace or difficulty you want. There’s more I’ll drop in here later today. Buying my switch was the best move I made

I feel like I'm playing Stardew wrong. I haven't even scratched the surface of what I see others doing. I have like 10-15 types of plants/crops growing and that's kinda it. What am I doing wrong?

I know it's cliche but I don't think there's a wrong way to play. But I think it's kinda easy to get a sense of what you're missing if you take a look at some user created maps and look around the wiki a bit. Obviously the cave can be cleared out, but there's a second elite cave in the dessert in the far upper right I never came close to finishing. You can restore the community center. I like to get a massive fishing operation off the ground. There's marriage and building relationships. Personally I like to min/max my crops from the very first day with the hope of getting the green house up and running by the first winter. It's not easy. Building the best gear is a lot of fun and with the crazy exotic materials found in the toughest caves.
This is all based on my memory of playing a couple years ago. I don't even know what kind of crazy stuff they've added since then.
ETA: Yea, I just looked and there was a recent major update to PC/GOG that was on top of another couple major updates I never really explored. The additions all look super cool.

Playing together? Super Smash is a pretty fun game that's easy to play, has tons of characters to choose from, and is pretty quick, but you know your wife and whether fighting games appeal to her or are a good idea for your marriage.

If you're looking for more co-op instead of going against each other, Super Mario Odyssey has a fun co-op mode where one of you could be Mario and the other his hat as you explore the world together. I've heard that can be a fun experience for a couple.
One of my friends plays Snipperclips with his wife - they seem to love it. I've never played it, so I can't speak to it.

Are/were there any Monster Hunter World players? I don't remember there being any when I gave it my first go-around almost two years ago. I stopped playing without getting to the highest level monsters (or even close). But with Iceborne out and I'm thinking it could be a good time to get back in. I just don't know if I'm gonna be hopelessly overwhelmed. I may even have to start completely from scratch.

My R5 3600x and extra 16GB of RAM have arrived. I'm still waiting on the right 2070S deal. I planned to get the MSI Gaming X variety on Cyber Monday, but missed the deal and it is back to $550. With tax, I'm not going there. Holding out hope for something in the next couple of weeks.

I have it on Xbox. Probably only played for 10 hours or so and never picked it back up. It was my first Monster Hunter game so I wasn’t really sure what I was doing and didn’t put in the effort to learn.

So because the Iceborne expansion (I'm not even at a level where I can play what I bought yet) comes with a nice armor set and mats that let you craft a new kind of weapon, I decided to make a pretty nice Insect Glaive, something I saw a dude using last night that looked pretty cool.
Over lunch I took it for a spin without having any idea how to use it, but I entered an arena battle against a pretty hard (for me) monster and dusted him by just spamming some combos.
So I get back to work and I figure I'd look up a guide on how to use this thing. The Youtube video is half a **** hour long, and the guy is talking at warp speed. I'm the kind of guy who stopped playing fighters because fighting combos were too much. This is like that times a hundred. I think I could spend a dozen hours practicing and only just kinda have a solid understanding, much less be awesome.

Spoiler:
This is the exact problem I had, just too much effort required to learn/take advantage of all the game has to offer, maybe that's a knock on me, IDK.

I played for 30-40 hours probably. I dabbled in dual blades and honestly I didn't even scratch the surface of the moveset and did fine for the story. I think it's one of those things that you get out what you put in.
If I do pick it back up, I may give the insect glaive a try actually. Pretty sure that's the only weapon that you can use to propel yourself to mounting a monster, which is an idea that I like.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
MLB reached a deal with Sony to let San Diego bring MLB: The Show to more consoles. Both MS and Nintendo have hinted that they will be getting it in the future.
That is great for the market and MLB fans, but a big exclusive loss for Sony. That said, I personally haven't played in years. I got it as part of PS+ this year and played RTTS for a couple weeks, but that's about it. Maybe I'd play more on Switch, I dunno
