As he said on 97.3....he thinks the nba will eventually go to simulcast the TV feed to radio...with way too much talking for TV and not enough for radio.

Golden opportunity for the Bucks here with needing new TV and radio voices. The Magic are already doing it, it's an easy way to save $$$$.

Hopefully they think better than that, but we'll see.

Matt Lepay would be an awesome replacement, but he is almost 60 himself.
Why should you go to jail for a crime someone else noticed? You don't need double talk... You need Bob Loblaw.

I always enjoyed Ted Davis. Listened a lot in the car and in the days before League Pass.

The Bucks radio network was so minor league. The pre-game and post-game shows were bare bones until recently. The real kicker was Davis broadcasting solo for away games. I've never heard of a major league broadcast not having a second voice to provide another voice and another set of eyes. It had to be difficult to keep things entertaining, interesting and informative during the many years without a playoff series win. Yet, he never let it sound like the monolog that it was. What a talent.

I hope this was his decision 100%.

As others said, had I known this would be his last year, I would've made an effort to listen to more games. Imo, he was one of the sharpest, funniest pbp commentators in basketball. I think he's right about radio being phased out, so I'm glad he got to go out on top. It's a shame he never got promoted to TV. Perhaps he wanted it that way.

Have any DukeH replacement candidates been announced?

Hide the women and children, Ray Allen with the dunk!

Congrats on the retirement Ted!

When I was the Za man dropping off pizza all over I used to listen to Ted for every game, guy made some really really bad teams entertaining. Guy will forever be the voice of the bucks to me, even with Jim when I think of a voice for Bucks basketball it will be Ted.

I’ll genuinely miss him, it won’t be the same.

He would get stressed out a lot, as you say ("that was a 15-point lead five minutes ago and now it's down to only 6"), which stressed me out when I listened to him, but you knew he really cared, which is what I liked about him the most.

He never really mastered the Eddie Doucette knack for finding a nickname or phrase that stuck, but it wasn't for lack of trying. Giannis as the Alphabet was kind of embarrassing, especially the way he wouldn't let it go.

But he'll be missed.

A few posters have mentioned his exasperation as being a highlight and I have to agree. He really made you feel the game. I also experienced a lot of quarters or halves in the car while really wanting to be watching the game or on my way home. Great sportsball memories.

I wish he had adopted the Chinese nickname of "Alphabet Bro" for Giannis.

Fascinating. Not a fan of Gabe. But Nehm getting an audition shot means they’ve moved Dennis Krause out also. Nehm could be sneaky good. I like that one.

Agreed. Gabe is a hack. I like Nehm but have no idea how he'll do in this role. Krause only did home games, Ted worked solo on road games.

I wonder if I’m the only person here who actually enjoyed Krause. And if he is moving on, I’ll miss him

I thought Krause was decent but I rarely listen to Bucks on the radio

I'll forever be sad they never synced up the radio with the tv feed for Ted Davis

I'm hoping for the best for Eric

But, I liked Dennis Krause too

What really looks bad is Bucks forced Ted out and came up empty on a replacement, otherwise that person would be doing the preseason. So, really curious who they will roll out there for Oct 19th.

Where is this forced put talk coming from? I thought he didn't want to come back due to the NBA's covid protocols

Read @nbated twitter feed

He's been pretty vocal the last few weeks

Bucks just resigned a player who was sharing antivax memes so I'm not sure it's a covid thing that pushed Ted out

I think Paschke left on his own accord and they saw an opening for a fresh slate of media talent covering Bucks
