Theoretically you could play tougher games if you advance in the tournament. But it could work the other way. If both the Celtics and Bucks get knocked out we could play each other in one of the unscheduled games. In fact it's likely since we are only scheduled to meet 3 times this year. That game would be home since we play them twice in Boston.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It only makes sense that Mids first game back will be the game that doesn't count.

Something I also thought of if they're doing it this way is you probably play a tougher 82-game schedule if you're in the Cup KO's.
An additional question is how is it determined who you play if you don't make the KO's.

Weird how Cade missed their game over the weekend and is off the injury report.

The Saturday game he missed was the second of a B2B. He played Friday night. He missed 3 before that with a bad hip so it made sense he wouldn't play B2B so missing Saturday was precautionary.

A half Million is still a lot of loot to every guy in the league.

If that were true then vets wouldn't sign on the minimum, giving up millions, to chase a championship.

So you are arguing that vets care about winning, regardless of the big payday?Bernman wrote:ReginaldDwight wrote:A half Million is still a lot of loot to every guy in the league.

The ring is worth more in earnings down the road for most of those vets. Guys like Donald Driver and Leroy Butler been pimping **** for decades off their rings.
If someone at your job said here all you gotta do is your job for a chance to win 5 percent bonus youd work hard on it. These guys still have to play the 82 games. Its one game more plus a trip the vegas for some rich guys.

Not sure why you guys torture yourselves. When Km does return we're looking at at least a month of him playing himself into what he considers "game shape," so he will be of no use to us in the NBA Cup stuff. Faster you accept this information and take some deep breaths, the better.

I think this is right as far as IST scenarios: If the Knicks beat the Magic then Bucks-Pistons will almost certainly be for a spot in the knockout round because Orlando will get the wildcard spot because of their point differential. If the Magic win then the Knicks will be out and the Bucks and Pistons could both be in if the game is within 5 points as the Bucks currently have a +29 point differential, the Pistons are at +28 and Celtics (who are done) are at +23.
Edit: If the Knicks win, the Bucks-Pistons winner will likely be the 1 seed and play the Magic. If the Magic win, the Bucks-Pistons winner will almost certainly be the 2 seed and play the Hawks.

Bucks at 6p, Knicks at 6:30p - The games will be happening at the same time.

These are not the same parameters...
The 500k is icing. It involves no sacrifice. Its easy to care about.
Whether to chase money or title chances is much more nuanced. Weve seen it go both ways depending on the player

Have everything compared to a two point basket, and determine in the off-season what you want deep shots to be worth relative to 2pt shots.
Maybe the expected points per shot at the rim is 1.3, and threes are currently 1.17. On any other 2pt look you’d need to shoot 58.5% to match it.
Maybe you want to match to a 54% 2pt shot, so if teams shoot 39% from outside, make that worth 2.8pts. 2.8 x .39 = 1.092 which is a little better than 54% on 2pt shots.
120.4 - 106.6 would be the new target score.
You’d expand the NBA audience to people who love mental math, too. Win win.

It involves the sacrifice of playing the extra game, tougher 82-game schedule, less home games, & time w/ your family. I'm saying this can go both ways depending on the player too. May not be worth the extra 500k to some who've made hundreds of millions.

To Michael Jordan (noted basket ball player slash charter member of the JNCO Hall of Fame), 500000 USD is 500000 USD more going towards gambling. If it means that much to a man who voluntarily cultivated and maintained a Hitler mustache, I'm sure it means that much to, say, Luka (sp?) Garza.

Call me Justin Timberlake, cause I’m lovin it.
Another option would be to do away with the 3-point line and replace it with 3-pt areas - 2-3 8ft diameter circles out in mid-30s Brook Lopez land. This would allow for both more contested 3’s and for a spread floor. The location of those areas could adjust depending on the shot percentages year by year or even month by month.

That's creative, if a little game-show-like. Call me Occam, but I still like the simplest solution of all. Just make the ball a little bigger, like a training ball. Maybe 31 inches in circumference vs. current 29.5.
