There's no rule against it, as long as you don't touch the line or move outside of the designated area.

You are currently doing a 2 motion shot from your forehead ... (too centered,,,) ... You need to take a step to the left and try a one stroke-motion shot off your right shoulder

One of the reasons I wanted Cassell to come in so badly this offseason was to show Giannis his no routine free throw routine. Step up and shoot. That’s it. No 45 second internal dialogue/mid throw crisis.
