I was saying how "could" he. Like how was he able to get such a long-term deal. I don't see any other teams offering him 6 years like we did.
Again not really understanding your point unless your imply that Gadz should have put club needs before his contractual needs and getting the most money for him?

Oh...I totally agree with that statement. I was just pointing out though that Collins is a very established commodity with an ego.

For those of you that want Herb's hands off the steering wheel, I think he'd give up the drivers seat for two years for Collins. For lesser guys like Sund, etc, no way.

I'll take Doug Collins in a heartbeat. He tends to rub his players the wrong way as a coach, but he sure as hell knows basketball and basketball talent.

I for one think Collins is nothing but hype and don't believe he is worth what he is asking

One reason i'd like to possibly see Collins get the GM job is maybe he'd only take the job with some assurances that Kohl would keep his meddling to a minimum.

Now i have no idea if that is true, but i question if Collins would leave a cushy TV gig if he thought taking a GM job here would involve constant meddling from Kohl and his minions.

A guy like Sund or some first time GM candidate likely would be more willing to have fairly limited power just to get any GM job given there are only 30 of them.

He knows basketball yes.....talent not so sure. How much power did he have in that Wizards fiasco with Jordan? Wasn't that sort of a mutual thing? I just can't remember.

Apparently you are too dense to understand that you would thereby be [sarcastically] agreeing with the very same "Western Conference officials" whose opinion on Bogut I'm sure you've already printed and hung in your Bogut shrine right next to your vintage, Bogut autographed Utes '04 jock strap.

It's pretty obvious what your Bogut sarcasm was getting at.

thought it was an interesting read until he said the execs think Bogut is one of the best young centers in the league, they obviously have lost all credibility there, he sucks and at least alot of informed people here know that.

You're dishonest if you don't think its obvious that was a "See some people know what Bogut's worth is" type sarcastic comment right there directed against this boards Bogut detractors.

No GM is ever a sure thing, they could do well in one place and not so well in another. I do know though if Collins was given more power because Kohl felt he had some status, i'd rather take my chances with Collins making nearly all the calls over Kohl and his buddies.

This is actually turning into a good thread. Can we not let this go down the road of Bogut "haters" and "lovers" putting words in each others mouths?
"didnt you watch the game with the raptors?bucks is also a playoff team ,they have enough ability to find wins from dalas and utach,
blow jazzs bitches and mavericks bitches out !"

Damn this board is fiesty today!

I like Collins, i listen to what he has to say on basketball matters and he makes a lot of sense to me. The fact that he coached the greatest of all time probably subconsciously gives him some more cred in my mind as well. Does that translate to a good GM? I have no idea.

Thats an excellent point and I am sure Collins would have written into his contract that he would have that power......I wonder if Collins would keep Harris as GM or if Collins would assume personnel decisions as part of his VP duties....

Explain to me what that meant, XTitan. You think Bogut sucks? Or was a poor attempt at sarcasm of the "See these Western Conference officials know how good Bogut is unlike some of the idiots here" type? Its obvious it was the later.

But the strength of the sarcasm is totally annulled by the fact that the same guy also put Mo in as one of the "better" young PG's in the league.

You've constantly railed against Mo. You can't have it both ways. If this guys opinion on Bogut is evidence of anything, so is his opinion on Mo.

You just hide behind sarcasm because you know you are not capable of participating in reasonable debate.

Yeah...let's put the Bogut/Mo stuff to those threads.....there is major news here and it is that Collins is now in play.

Think about how Larry feels showing up at the office tomorrow (or since last week). He's now got the media starting to imply that Kohl is talking to Collins about his replacement.

Unless this story is a planted lie (which I'd doubt) this is major news. Right now your two main figure heads in Larry H. and Larry K. are both getting neutered publicly with this story. This is a big development.

I'm not sure if you can write into your contract that ownership cannot interfere.

That'd be nice.

You can write that you have the power to make all personnel decisions, that you answer only to the owner, that you can hire and fire whoever you want....I can promise you that Collins knows how this organization is run and would not come in and answer to Ron Walter.
