I am not so sure you'd be right...if they want Mo they can get him, they didn't want him in free agency either.

I'm not the Hawk's GM, but as just a player, i much rather have Mo than Bibby. The last two years Bibby has seen his shooting sit at a terrible 40%, he's not a defender like Mo isn't, Bibby isn't a special passer at all, and his AS/TO ratio is only 2:1.

Bibby is also terribly overpaid at 14 million, but on the flip side his deal only has one more year on it. Mo has a much longer contract and one set up that allows him to opt out if he plays well and got better, but no team option if he doesn't. I could see Atlanta finding Bibby's contract as much more appealing even though he makes 5 million more next season because it's then an expiring.

Bibby's contract ends right before Marvin is due an extension, and it gives more time for Law to be groomed. So yes, I can see Bibby's contract being more appealing.

I think the hawks want bibby more than mo because of experience. If I were them, I'd probably want a more veteran guy that has proven himself in the postseason to help guide all of those young players.

I'm not saying Mo or Bibby is your answer at PG, but i doubt Law ever is either. In just one guy on a message boards opinion, i see Law becoming either a quality backup PG or a below average starting PG that you'll wish you had someone better if being a contender is eventually the goal.

I'm not sold on Law either, which is why I think a vet PG would be a smart acquisition.

Bibby's only 29, and hasn't ever relied on his athleticism, so he should have 3-4 decent years left in the tank.

All true but one rather critical element you're ignoring is Bibby's proven playoff experience. On a team like the Hawks, who have no idea what to think if they make the playoffs, that will be a tremendous asset. Bibby has been a major playoff producer on some very good teams and that experience will be invaluable for Atlanta. In my opinion, that gives him a huge advantage over Mo. He also has a much better contract as you already mentioned. I think there are still enough questions about Mo as a starter that could prevent some teams from wanting to pay him nearly $9M a year for the next 5+ seasons.

So what's your thinking on what the Hawks will do with all those forwards?

Horford
J. Smith
M. Williams
S. Williams
Childress

Which are the guys that you expect to get paid and be with the Hawks long term and which guys let go or shopped?

I'd assume you'd want Horford to be able to play PF for most of his minutes next year if you can find any center with a pulse. If so, who is the SF between Smith and M.Williams? What's the plan with Childress?

He's had better talent in recent years on the Kings, and where has he lead them?

Bibby is a shoot first PG like Mo Williams, just a smarter player...Bibby is not always 100MPH and out of control......guessing less of a turnover guy but thats a guess....the percetion I get around the league is Mo is viewed more a a small sg and not a pg.

Shelden likely gets traded to Sacramento. Childress is the odd man out IMO.

Marvin, Smith, and Horford all share the forward minutes, with Horford getting some burn at center. In an up-tempo style, which Bibby can help with, you can afford to play Horford at center quite a bit.

Horford is the Hawks current starting center.

Umm, you just forgot of significant variables that nullifies that statement...i.e. coach change, age, injuries, and etc...I could go REALLY in depth but it will take forever to list... :)

Why don't you just spend a few seconds to check before spouting out things you even admit you have no clue about?

Bibby does average 2.53TOs a game as opposed to Mo's 2.82 (Mo still has fewer TOs per 48), but when you take into consideration the fact that the shoot first PG can barely shoot 40% this year, it really doesn't make any sense. 13/5 shooting 40% as an "offensive" PG in the prime age of their life? Wowsers.

Let's face it, Bibby is terrible, and he's not even expiring this year.

You have to take in consideration that he is still rusty from a year's absence...

Bibby would certainly be a step-up in the PG guard position for the Hawks, and while Bibby has fallen off in recent years, a little improvement is all the Hawks really need to be a playoff team, and Bibby would provide that. He manages the game, that's all the Hawks really need.

Oscar Robertson has a ton of experience and has proven himself in the playoffs as well.

However, I doubt the Hawks want to trot him out as their starting PG right now.

Mike Bibby is TERRIBLE.

Bibby and his entourage were once called team dime. Somewhere along the way, it became team "greed". It's like Bibby woke up one day and said, "you know, I'm not going to look for teammates anymore".

Bibby's playoff numbers were a result of him being the 3rd best player on his team. Hes pretty terrible now-a-days.
