I had an Infiniti before this, that was a great car too. I planned on getting another one, partially because I love the dealer I got it serviced at, but the only one I really liked was the QX70 and the interior was basically the same as my 2011 G37x - couldn't talk myself into buying a new car that felt the same inside.

We went through something similar. She had a qx50 and liked it a lot. When it came time to get something different the qx50s hadn't changed... it just didn't feel like getting a new car. I pushed to at least test drive a q60 coupe but she wanted a hatchback. We wound up driving a qx60 and really liked the interior and added space. It's also significantly more comfortable than the qx50. It's nowhere near as fun to drive but all of our miles are highway. Who was your dealer?

I know exactly what you mean - it would have lost some of the excitement of a new car if everything inside looked/felt the same.

The dealer where I had my Infiniti serviced? Zimbrick Infiniti in Madison. The service there was great, never had a single issue with any aspect of taking my car there.

That's where we have gotten ours from and the service dept. Is why she wanted to stay with Infiniti. Those guys are awesome.

Yeah - they really are. I didn't buy my car there, but they always treated me like I did. I hope Zimbrick European is as good, but the sales guys I dealt with were shady as hell - no way I would ever buy a car there, went to Milwaukee for my SQ5.

I hear ya. We test drove a Mercedes GLA there before deciding to stick with Infiniti. That dealer has a very different feel to it.

The second guy I dealt with there gave me a "range" on my trade in, and then the following morning gave me a firm quote almost $2000 less. That's just part of it.

We didn't even get that far. The place just had a sleazy used car lot vibe.

The only reason I did was I just preferred to buy it in Madison instead of anywhere else - just in case I needed to go to the original dealer for any reason. I shopped around a bunch of different places, and then basically went in there and said - here are my numbers, match this and I'll buy. I had to show the guy in his system how to find the car I was looking for - if it wasn't in WI, he wasn't interested in even searching for it, wanted me to order from the factory or add on stuff I told him I didn't want. They had zero interest in selling me a car - I even told the guy while I was at his desk that I didn't think he was taking me seriously. He assured me he was, and told me how none of the other dealers I was talking to would probably even call me back. I picked up my phone and showed him the 3 missed calls I had from dealers while I was sitting at his desk. Bunch of tools. I'm seriously considering going to Milwaukee for service on it.

When we got our first Infiniti we settled on it because they were the only dealer to take us seriously of the "luxury" brands. We were in our 20's so I suppose we didn't fit their typical customer profile. Still incredibly irritating.

I'm floored anyone has anything nice to say about Zimbrick.

They had exclusive rights to sell Honda in Madison until the last few years. Saved >2k by buying a Civic in Milw (helping my mom) over staying in town. Being exclusive to the best selling brand allowed some embarrassing behavior just because the demand was there. But with Wilde moving in they are going to STRUGGLE.

You aren't that big if those are the cars you are looking at...

So I may looking at selling my 2015 Mercedes slk 350. Love the car, but it’s in storage in winter and barely driven in summer since it’s impractical being a 2 seater. Anyone have any recommendations for a car that is still fun as hell to drive, has a little wow factor like the hardtop convertible but is still practical?

My uncle has a souped up Mini. And it is more spacious than you might think. But I am a big 6'6" (you got me by quite a bit) and there is no way you could get me to drive it. In fact, **** anything less than a midsize.

If you're alright with some potential electrical gremlins the Alfa Giulia is pretty damn sexy.. Get the quadrifoglio if you want wow. I like the Porsche Macans quite a bit also if you're open to a crossover.

I’m also looking for a car currently and had my eye on the Tiguan but I took it for a test drive last weekend and really disliked it, not a fun drive.

Then I drove a Golf GTI SE and I think I’m going to buy it.

i tried to get in a golf gti 4 door and couldnt get my ass in there. its definitely possible that a two door would work though, and if i run into one ill check it out.

which tiguan did you test drive? the 2018 which is bigger than the older models or then 2017, the smaller one? im definitely interested in the smaller one. the bigger one is underpowered and has turbo lag bad. i didnt notice it as badly on the older one.

2 door cars are surprisingly more roomy than 4 doors. and non japanese 2 doors, even more so.

the mini paceman is a compact suv...i think? i dunno. its a cool car imo.
