I think Hammond cannot mess up on the pick (hopefully) but given his abysmal track record on trades (many of which are trades to get rid of past mistakes), I have no confidence, none/zero/zilch, that he can pull off any trades that will benefit this team. A good/great GM has to be able to draft/trade/sign the right free agents.

Hammond is simply over his head when he deals with other GM's or agents. Kohl may have given the win now order but signing Gooden, what we got for Bogut, etc... are on Hammond.

That's totally inane, unless you sign a binding contract with Philly to take Exum for you at 3 and swap picks. * When available, you have to take your most valued prospect(!). League media standards be damned. I liked Hammond's post lottery quote about #2 not having the same expectations as #1, wishful thinking that it makes selecting Exum/Embiid easier for him.

It would send a message to Dante that he's valued highly enough to be taken there and that coveted by the organization. He'd show up to work with confidence and resolve to put in his best effort for the franchise.

I guess this is what happens when you hype two players up for about two years, regardless of what happens during the season in which they actually play. Does Hammond have the stones to pass on Parker for Embiid if Cleveland takes Wiggins? Ted Thompson sure as hell would, and I'd like to believe Hammond wouldn't be influenced by uninformed public opinion, but I am not 100% sure of that.

Hammond on the Bucks approach with him as the GM at the beginning of his tenure was something along the lines of "We're not going to make moves that everybody approves of when we first make them". He seems like a quirky, eccentric guy that would choose his own direction. Whether it's a matter of cajones or just personal makeup is another matter. Hammond's not a tough guy, not by league GM standards but he seems to be of his own opinion when it comes to prospect evaluation.

Hopefully the owners don't plan on meddling, to get one of those two in an attempt to appease the fans based on this silly little tally by Monroe.
