amen.

I agree with the sentiment but...how did Brandon Jennings work out well?

I suppose you could look at it that way, but it's not as if drafting Brandon Jennings was the only way we could end up with Khris Middleton. Jennings himself was pretty much a disaster, we just lucked into the Pistons being dumb enough to throw Middleton into a trade centered around Knight and Jennings.

There are a lot of reasons to question this pick, but I'm not too worried about the age concerns at this point.

His age has been questioned forever.

Doesn't change my mind. The fact that it's been an issue "forever" also means teams have had ample time to investigate these concerns to whatever ability they could. That's all I'd expect them to do.

Not much you can really do. He wouldn't have had much in the way of documentation when he came over 13 years ago from Sudan.

In case I'm missing something, wasn't Maker the #1 junior recruit in the nation two years ago? I'm just going to wait and see on this.

In 3 years we will be kicking ourselves for not moving up 3 or 4 spots and grabbing Hield or Murray. They are, and will be the better players in the NBA. They also filled a huge need of ours in perimeter shooting.

Do what it takes, within reason (#10, MCW, Monroe, future 2nds, maybe future 1st protected), to get 6 or 7 and get them. Maker probably would have been there at 36.

I am so sick of never trading up for better players.

I think literally nobody knows how old he is.

Maybe I'm just an ignorant first worlder but I'd think maybe his exact birth date is in question but I have a hard time believing his age is a handful of years wrong.

I don't know, a lot of these Sudanese kids lie about their age so they can play HS basketball. This kid was "discovered" and dominated youth basketball, it kind of smells. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was a few years older, I think they've caught a couple of these Sudanese kids playing basketball being like 10 years old in Canada. It's not like they keep good birth records in Sudan during the middle of a civil war.

How can you not be absolutely enthralled by the mystery and intrigue surrounding this pick. It may wind up a colossal bust. Hell, that may be a certainty. BUT, I just don't care. I am absolutely hooked.

I'm talking myself into liking this pick. It's not like I have a choice, he's our guy now. The Bucks must've seen something in Thon's workout that nobody else did. It's not like this is a guy we know a lot about.

His Wiki says 23. lol He looks old and I doubt the Sudan kept reliable birth records. But that's not even his primary concern for me. That's his tape even against players supposedly in his same age group. Still doesn't manage to impress. But looks like a monster in workouts I bet.

There was a dude in Canada who was 27 posing as a HS junior playing ball.

I wouldn't even say he is 21 at the oldest.. he could be up to 24.

The pick makes no sense. Trade up in the 20s if you want the guy. At 10, it's just a waste of an asset.

worse case scenario is a career of < 500 minutes in the NBA. This is not a "floor" pick, it's a "ceiling" pick.

Look who's been drafted in the rest of the lottery. Who would you rather have? If it makes you feel any better my team's GM just made a complete brain fart of a trade.

maker might have a higher bust chance than some of these other non superstars yall want over him, but his ceiling has to be higher too. gonna have him following around giannis for a few years, itll all work out.

Sounds like he's from a small village in South Sudan. Wouldn't be shocking at all if they didn't know how many years old he is. No birth certificates, typically just farmers and herders, so they don't keep track of things like age.
