Every other team employs a broadcast team and airs the games on Facebook live, but I have a sneaking suspicion the Herd are going to shirk that.

The cheerleaders were memorizing. It was difficult to peel your eyes away to watch the game, but the games were fun and exciting too. Guys around the arena said the cheerleaders were from a local strip club. No idea if that was true.

I think old arena football games used to be on ESPN2 or something and the Mustangs were on quite a bit. I remember asking my dad if we could go to a game and that's where the not real football came from.

The Herd seems to be generating some excitement in Oshkosh
http://www.jsonline.com/story/news/2017/11/06/wisconsin-herd-milwaukee-bucks-minor-league-team-ready-roll-oshkosh/793660001/

Season ticket sales are expected to wind up in the range of 1,250, said Herd President Steve Brandes. That accounts for about a third of the seats available in the arena, which is being built in a part of downtown Oshkosh that needed a shot in the arm.

Full houses are expected for many home games, in part because tickets start at $10 each.

"I think they're being received really well," said season ticket holder Larry Lautenschlager. "It's something new coming to Oshkosh. And that part of town really needed some kind of revitalization."

Herd opens the season today at Rio Grande Valley at 7pm. Game will be broadcast on Facebook Live here:

https://www.facebook.com/nbagleague/videos/10155593740725289/

My guess on our starters:

PG: Xavier Munford
SG: Gary Payton II
SF: James Young
PF: Joel Bolomboy
C: Michael Dunigan

Rio Grande Valley dropped their opener 112-109 despite a roster that boasts 3 NBA assignees (Onuako and Troy Williams from Houston; Tyler Lydon from Denver) and 3 2-way players (Briante Weber and Demetrius Jackson from Houston; Monte Morris from Denver). Additionally, the Vipers have recent 2nd round picks Danuel House and Isaiah Hartenstein, and former first rounders RJ Hunter and Tony Wroten.

Still worried that whenever the Herd have home games there won’t be any broadcast. G-league announcers don’t travel with the team.

Supposedly all G-League games will be on FB live this year. They're broadcasting 21 home games on actual TV on whatever MYNEW32 is. Justin Hull and Ted Stefaniak (your guess is as good as mine) are calling the games.

I mean, I guess. I don't really think there is a **** "part" of Oshkosh since the whole city kind of sucks, but it's not like it's in a neighborhood that people will want to avoid going to by any means. It's on Main Street, which is where 75% of the good bars and restaurants are, but it's on the wrong side of the river (and then down a little ways). Still, it's at the intersection of two major streets and Oshkosh is small enough with so little traffic that getting to it really shouldn't be a problem. It's just in an area where there were some factories and businesses that either closed down or moved elsewhere.

That said, I'd be pretty surprised if a high percentage of those season ticket holders aren't local businesses that will be giving away/selling their tickets most nights. I can see 1-3 games at the beginning where the place is a near sell out, but once people see how **** the actual basketball is I'd be pretty surprised to see a lot of people there unless they send Vaughn/Wilson/Maker.

Maybe I'm overly pessimistic about this city, hopefully I am, but that article was pure fluff IMO. That said if the arena does cause more bars/restaurants/breweries to open up in the area it would be great for Oshkosh. Time will tell.

I used to play in summer league and tournaments at the Epicenter (now I think called Center Court I think?) in Waukesha. The Mustangs cheerleaders used to practice there, sometimes on the pavillion outside, sometimes there was a break in the games and they had half of the giant fieldhouse rented out, I think.

Anyways, yeah, you had a bunch of 13-18 year old boys that had summer league games waiting around there. There was a large crowd drawn.

My only memory from being at a Mustangs game was being 14 or 15 and doing stupid 14 or 15-year-old stuff to try to get on the Jumbotron. Some crusty old man came over and reamed us out which was ridiculous because the guy could have just moved over a section if he was annoyed by us standing and making stupid gestures/faces since it was so empty. Stadium attendant I think overreacted to the level of abuse that we accused the guy of and he got thrown from the game. That was fun.

The Rockets have assigned Chinese rookie Zhou Qi to the Vipers for their game against the Herd tonight. Qi is 7-1,very skinny, long as hell and likes to shoot three pointers.
