Barry was Barry good. Underrated show.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Love Barry. Haven't watched the finale yet. Sucks there are only 8 per season. Especially since it's only 30 minutes. I'll watch anything with Stephen Root
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This is some of Root's best work and that's saying something. He's nuts good in the finale.

The best thing about this show is that it was about so much more than that. Then it became a hollow show about magic and dragons.

First two episodes were incredible, watched them twice. I was goddamn terrified. Can't wait to watch last night's episode today.

Also, like I said a few pages ago, Hulu's Catch 22 is a breeze of a watch. Six episodes and they went fast. I laughed a lot.

Fine, I'll come out and say it. I will automatically not watch any fantasy program [save for my still in the works screenplay where me and 1978-era Joyce DeWitt run a fondue joint; spoiler: hi-jinks ensue] or anything set in medieval/middle earth locales/time. I don't care if it's an allegory to our present-day condition, won't watch it. Anything set in pre-western times, won't watch it.

Might be surprised, still a lot of #content from which to choose.

I think we can dispense with the spoiler tags on GoT.

Everyone develops biases towards certain genres, its not unusual to carry an anti-fantasy bias through life. GOT has certainly removed that barrier from a lot of individuals and conversations. There are of course still many who can't take sex zombies and dragon keepers and lava crossbows and that type of stuff seriously. Its certainly not a conflict or tension that will be resolved here.

I personally can't get in to it, its too dungeons and dragon for me, when people talk about GOT I picture them rolling a multi sided dice and sketching pictures of their level 9 lady elf. But I'm certain I am intrigued and drawn to content, genre, and settings those same people would bore of quickly.

I think the main turn off that non GOT fans have developed, is that at least 75% (and probably much higher) of all the comments on here about it in these past 3 years have been overwhelmingly negative. At a certain point, if even the fans and supporters base the majority of their commentary in plot and dialogue complaints, you have to ask if it is still worthy of remaining such a cultural connecting point. I think its interesting to contemplate. Some kids in high school are popular just because people have decided they are popular (not really merit based). It seems like GOT started off by earning a massive audience, but kind of turned in to that kid.

It's definitely a barrier to get people in to a genre when you have a show that steps outside the normal boundaries. I have had more than one person tell me they won't watch BSG because they don't do sci-fi and it's hard to explain that it is barely sci-fi. It's more of just a really good drama/political show set in space with some sci-fi features.

I'd say the same for early GoT as well, it was just good drama, politics, religion, etc... set in a fantasy environment.

One could argue Star Wars is more like a Western than sci fi.

Serenity >>> Star Wars as a Western.

And I don't like Kevin James films. So yes there are genres (non funny comedies) that I will avoid as well.

Cuz they talked in a weird western dialect?

No because it really was a Western.

My ten year old and I watched “Here Comes the Boom” and he loved it because it was very simple melodrama, perfect plot for a child. He asked why I kept laughing. I told him it was not realistic that a beautiful woman would fall in love with a sloppy high school teacher, or that he would defeat a professional MMA fighter.

So there... a Kevin James movie made me laugh.

Cool it's more of a western than Star Wars. You win the internet.
