This is essentially it for us so I can talk myself into the '31 first for DeAndre Hunter. Maybe they can swindle Dyson Daniels out of them too

Why does everyone want Bobby traded? This team is what it is. Fingers crossed that they get hot in the playoffs.

Also, why is everyone so concerned about the '31 first round pick? We'll recoup a boat load of 1st rounders when we eventually trade Dame and Giannis.

If you want out from a franchise that has spent hundreds of millions trying (unsuccessfully, except once, which is huge) to win championships you can go be a fan of the Hornets or Wizards.

Yeah, even with the PJ transaction, this team was never trying to be cheap. They just thought an aging, disgruntled PJ would be washed the following year. They never traded Giannis and did everything to keep him. I disagree with a lot of what they did over the years.....trading for Jrue, not trading Midds/Pat/Bobby earlier, using the residual 1sts on projects, etc.....but they were trying and I think they still are trying now. We will see in 4 hours.

Without any more moves, this team is toast in the first round.

Ehhh both are kind of useless. They only break things that would be released an hour later and cover up stories that actually matter or have biased takes when they are taking up air time on TV.

Bog and Jon Isaac are likely both obtainable without giving up the 1st and would solidify this team nicely. I know Brooks floor stretching is nice but I think this is still a move worth making. Find a stretch 5 to pair with Isaac in the off-season.

Something like this would be the perfect way to finish this deadline. Bobby & Pat plus the 31 first for Hunter makes perfect sense.

1) Opens a spot to sign Rollins
2) Adds the wing defender we desperately need
3) Moves Kuz into the 6th man role where he can be a primary scorer
4) Leans the team into more small ball lineups with Hunter/Kuz/Giannis all playing together which is the only we are going to compete with Boston or NY

MIL Hunter/Santos

GSW Bobby

ATL-Payton/Pat/Marjon/GSW 2nds/ MLW 2031 first

Don't know if we can off load Marjon somewhere for cash because I don't think ATL can cut 2 guys.

Maybe I'm missing something but I think now that we are under the 2nd apron and can aggregate salary Bobby & Pat for Hunter is legal on its own.

Cam Johnson is like the exact demarcation line for me when it comes to spending that 1st. A player of similar age or younger that's better than him, of course I would. Worse than him at a similar age or older, absolutely not. Cam himself is very close but I would probably do it.

This feels right to me. I'll definitely understand it if we attempt a move for Cam. Idk if I'll feel "good" about it, but like you said, he's probably right on the line of where you can begin justifying it.

Totally unrelated, but does us ducking the apron now mean that we can sign buyout guys? I can't remember what exactly the limitation was on that, but that could theoretically become important for us as guys like Schroder for example could be bought out.

Well first, hes still 28. Giannis is 30 so thats the timeline, right?

Second, im not sure what the wildest dream is for one unprotected pick but recall it took a 1.24, two unprotected firsts, and two pick swaps to get Jrue Holiday. And that was before Giannis re signed in Milwaukee so those unprotected picks had big potential value.

From that perspective, i think Cam for two late firsts and we pocket the third for something else is a very solid move.

Correct, we can aggregate now.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Because we will probably suck and that pick will be likely be Top 10?
ETA: For the record, i think it would be a horrible move to trade it for the organization, but I'm totally on-board of going all in and then I will take a decade long-break of NBA once we trade Giannis.

Lets not forget...

Brooklyn wants to trade for Giannis someday. If we traded them our 31 1st (and they send a late 25 or 26 first back) it would be a great bargaining chip for them later on in any Giannis deal as it allows us to tank and rebuild in 31

Cam Johnson is a superior player to Deandre Hunter but post the Kuzma move I think Hunter makes more sense as Cam and Kuzma are sort of duplicative. We still really need a good switchable wing defender which Hunter is. Hunter allows you to put AJAX away and start Dame/Green/Hunter/Giannis/Brook with Kuz as your 6th man off the bench. Also gives you the flexibility of playing Hunter/Kuz/Giannis lineups whereas I'm not sure you get away with Johnson/Kuz/Giannis as well defensively.

I had no idea Hunter is somehow younger than Cam Johnson. Weird.

Bogdan and Marcus Smart seem to be the names in the unverified rumor mill corners of the X-verse this morning.

Is it that Hunter can actually guard POA and Cam cannot? Because Cam's defensive lebron is historically far far superior to Hunter.

Cam was a 5th year senior at UNC I believe. He was an older rookie so I’m not really surprised there. Hunter was a sophomore when he left UVA.
