That's a good point. Big Dog never was the alpha leader personality we needed. So maybe that points towards Parker again.

June 26th can't come fast enough.

From an intangibles standpoint, Parker is the best fit for the Bucks. He's well known, well spoken and from just down the road. He's the type of high quality guy this franchise badly needs to get the casual fan and media re-engaged. And I think he'll be a natural leader.

Well Big Dog fits the from down the road part of the description. Or maybe from down the road and around the corner. I think Big Dog frequently gets sold short because he was a low key, soft spoken guy. He may not have been the charismatic media darling that Parker could be, but he was an intelligent guy and always presented a positive image for the Bucks. I don't think you were ripping on Big Dog in general, just speaking to the fan/media image part. But I still felt the need to put in a good word for my man Big Dog. :)

But I still agree with your original point, if Parker becomes an all star, it still is a letdown if we passed up someone special for him. If Parker is Melo and Wiggins becomes LeBron (yea, pie in the sky dreaming) or whatever comparison you want to use. I'm still concerned about the defense with Parker. The guys that are able to play at an elite level at both ends of the court are rare and are the ones that can truly carry a team to championship contending status. It's hard to pass up even a possibility of getting a player like that. Based on what the new owners have said though about how they want to build the team and about a championship being the ultimate goal, I will trust that if Parker is the pick it will be because they truly believe he is the best option on the board to be a part of the long term plan and give them the best possibility of reaching that ultimate goal.

If we think Embiid and Sanders would really compliment each other I'd be interested in giving a frontline with them and Giannis a go. Defense would be beastly to say the least.

Also...looking at Ford's exact wording makes it sound like he thinks we have Parker ranked above Embiid:

If Parker isn't on the board, Embiid has intrigued the team for a while. Given his offensive prowess (and Sanders utter lack thereof) they feel he's a good fit.

I'm hoping our owners are talking up Parker to distract from Embiid. Excited to hear reports after his workout in Cleveland.

Subject to change, but Parker, Wiggins, Exum.

Would be very surprised if Exum jumped Parker. I would not rule out Wiggins jumping Parker. Still early.

Ford's intell matches up with this.

I say this mainly because people like to rip on Ford but he seems to be hearing the same stuff you are.

Maybe you were reading something from May, 2013?

90% of GM's have Embiid at 1. Maybe more.

Hammond's always been "active" trying to acquire an additional first.

Successful is the description that has eluded him. ;)

Very true...but different mandate this time. Though his power is also not the same as it used to be.

Ditto. Just goes to show how much emphasis is put on workouts which personally I think is ridiculous.
