I really like the idea for Monroe for our offense. Henson is the perfect backup to the 4/5 for pure defensive purposes

Monroe allows us to switch around the 4/5 combinations. Add the Bosnian sniper, ditch Plumlee/O'Bryant & we're good to go.

Agreed. We need a Monroe signing in that regard.
Seriously. Let Portland be the new Bucks. It's a fitting transition. It's a new era where Blazerball is an NBA woman. Where Rip City is simply ripped on. Where Neal Olshey is full of...old shyyyyyyyyiiiiiit.

No green font here. By virtue of Monroe being the number one target of the Knicks, he's achieved some significant status now. If the Bucks did pry him off the Knicks that would send a strong message to the league and media. Conversely, if we strike out on everyone, that too will have a ramification. If my choice is saving the money or signing a third tier guy like Koufos or signing Monroe, I'm taking Monroe ten times out of ten.

I'm not worried about that with Kidd and MCW/Middleton/Giannis in the starting five. You can sure as hell run the same D with Monroe as we did with Zaza, and it isn't like Henson was an all world help defender either. I agree our d improves more with Lopez or Chandler, obviously, but Monroe adds some offensive versatility. There are pros and cons to all these guys, we aren't getting Gasol.
Problem is Zaza was a better rim protector than Monroe last year.
Who was our 4? Hmmm.
There's a guy on Detroit named Drummond.
I'm not being antagonistic - really. Just pointing out Zaza was our only rim protecting option, really. Again, I haven't seen a lot of Monroe play but I'm doing my research and it's clear his defensive inadequacies or waaaaay overblown.
Not according to this:

Hmmm not sure, is this airline into moving?

Eh, Seattle is a big hub for them. Flew Boston-Seattle non-stop on Alaskan last year.

Still think that RoLo is most likely as I did before, but Monroe is a distinct possibility.
i'm assuming we're offering Monroe the max, what are the numbers looking like for rolo?
after Chandlers deal i'd guess RoLo starts at 16ish

We had one of the worst offenses in the league and one of the best defenses: "WE NEED A RIM PROTECTOR NOT A GUY WHO CAN SCORE!!!"
Unreal.
Our offense will get better as Giannis and Parker get better, and if our players don't have to constantly rotate, expending energy, and can actually allow penetration to a shot blocker.
You don't need a shot blocker to have a good defense, as the Bucks proved last season.
This team's offense is absolutely horrendous and adding a guy that's good for 15 points per game is a no brainer. Not to mention, a guy who is actually offensively competent in the post. Assuming Parker and Giannis are going to vastly improve on offense right away is dangerous. Monroe is a better option for this team long term than RoLo.
Or run plays more for Middleton, or not worry about it since Parker and Giannis are only 20 and the future hinges on them anyway.
JOB can score 15 a night on terrible efficiency too. Doesn't mean it's a good idea.
The Bucks defense was good until it mattered and they had no answer for wide open threes while rotating or dribble penetration.

Monroe isn't even that bad a defender, don't know where that keeps coming from. You'd think he was Kanter with the way his defense gets trashed. At the very worst he'll be serviceable with us. He's infinitely more athletic than Zaza, has solid size, and seems to be more or less coachable..which is great considering we have an awesome defensive coaching staff that'll make him work and put him in good spots. He's a talented offensive big for a team that desperately needs offense, and a defensive upgrade to an elite defense that started Zaza. Assuming the price isn't something ridiculous, Monroe would be an awesome pickup imo.

Re: Free Agency Thread -Woj Bomb: Inroads with Monroe!
If we sign Monroe all that will happen is a bunch of national media guys going "Wtf?", followed by a couple national reporters going " yeah, they're talented young as ****, duh". Then everyone will carry on as usual by not paying attention to the Bucks all day until suddenly we're up 2-1 on the Cavs in the 2nd round and we get another collective "Wtf?" from the world again.

The last 96 hours? I'm loving the rationalization, the second most powerful human drive. Reminds me of day five years ago when Woelfel tweeted out we might get Maggette.
FOOTNOTE: I could live with the move under the "Mark Cuban" strategy that we've got to spend the money somewhere so might as well create the asset and salary slot. He's only 25 and maybe Kidd can figure this out. Rather spend $18 million on him that $15 on Carroll or $10 on Shumpert.
Sounds like the MCW trade.

Monroe would be one hell of a score in FA that is for sure. I would have never guessed it and still highly doubt we get him.
I thought we were really big on character? Didn't think he fared well in that dept??

Monroe's agent is David Falk. Who are some other Falk clients who've come through Milwaukee?

Not me invalidating Monroe. It is about 40 posters who have posts on here ripping the guy 8 ways from sundown over the last two years but who are getting caught up in the excitement right now of validating the concept that the Bucks are "back". Heck, I'm getting excited about this right now.

I'm starting to think players are finally smarter than to just go to a big market. LA and NY have more or less completely struck out thus far today after I think many expected them to get some big names. Most basketball players want to play winning basketball. Not JUST live in a big market.

We add Monroe and there isn't a team in the league with a better 25 & under core.
