I think that's a pretty good theory.

Thanks for the drop in BP!

Hey Hammond, impress Lasry/Edens and shrewdly come away with multiple lotto picks. No more nice guy bs, go for the jugular.

There could be plenty of reasons, the main being who the hell wouldn't prefer to be in Philly rather than Cleveland or Milwaukee.

No kidding, until or if our new owners can turn things around here, Milwaukee would probably rank as the least desirable place to play for most basketball players. I know that if i was in any pro sports draft, i'd be plenty fine with sliding down only a spot or two if it meant landing in a place i found more desirable.

The difference between getting picked 2nd, 3rd, or 4th isn't all that much money in the grand scheme of things. It's the second contract where the real money is. Being in the right situation to potentially excel and liking the city where they'll live is the most important thing for any of these guys, besides the prestige which comes from being picked first overall. Once that pick is taken, the difference between being taken say 2nd or 3rd matters little.

Ditto. Just goes to show how much emphasis is put on workouts which personally I think is ridiculous.

Agreed.

I don't agree. The workouts, the interviews and the medical if necessary. I think these things definitely lend to selection process. They shouldn't be everything, but I can see them having some weight in the decision.

We haven't worked out anyone yet. Wiggins supposedly is doing really well at P3 for example. Wouldn't you want to see his progress? Get to know him as a person a little bit?

I just don't buy that reason. Money and prestige talk. I think every guy in the draft would rather be the #1 pick if they had their choice.

Then they could be posturing to make the Sixers, who apparently love him, make a move to move up and get him. Like I said, there's plenty of reasons.

Sure Wiggins would prefer going first overall, pretty much every player in every draft would like being the first taken. That said, i could also easily see Wiggins preferring that the Bucks pass on him so he landed in Philly instead, assuming the Cavs take Embiid.

Let's face it, playing with Kyrie in Cleveland and MCW/Noel in Philly is light years beyond anything appealing MKE has. The only person excited to play with Giannis outside of this board is Thanasis.

I completely disagree. CLE is far, far less appealing. PHI is quite debatable

-CLE has supposedly a toxic lockerroom, is led by a selfish PG who may leave in 1 year (waiters is also considered selfish), is in an undesirable location, has a meddling owner, and is known for Front Office incompetence.

-Playing with Noel is appealing? He has never played in an NBA game, is coming off of a devastating injury, and was only drafted #6 in what was considered an All-Time weak draft. His upside is maybe Larry Sanders or Theo Ratliff. MCW got some publicity but ended up posting some pretty inefficient stats and had inflated raw #s based on style of play.

Don't know if it was mentioned here before but is does anybody Redd 2.0 in Parker? Like Redd, Parker probably will be great for the team off the court but also like Redd he could avg at least 20ppg and not do anything else really well(particularly defense). Now Parker is coming to the NBA a much more highly rated prospect and possible upside but it does make you wonder a little bit.

It doesn't make me wonder at all. Parker is light years ahead of Redd. If Parker tries harder on defense I think he can be an average defender which if he translates offensively is all you need.

Not really - other than being negatives on defense. Parker's a much bigger guy who can help on the boards and can score in a larger variety of ways - inside and out - as well as taking his man off the dribble.

Also...looking at Ford's exact wording makes it sound like he thinks we have Parker ranked above Embiid:

If Parker isn't on the board, Embiid has intrigued the team for a while. Given his offensive prowess (and Sanders utter lack thereof) they feel he's a good fit.

I'm hoping our owners are talking up Parker to distract from Embiid. Excited to hear reports after his workout in Cleveland.

As of today, Embiid's at the top.

Subject to change, but Parker, Wiggins, Exum.

Would be very surprised if Exum jumped Parker. I would not rule out Wiggins jumping Parker. Still early.

Awesome news on all fronts. 1) easily Embiid, 2) Parker, 3) Wiggins, Exum not really in the mix barring crazy circumstances. Same way I have it, so it feels very good that the Bucks currently are looking at it that way.

I think Parker will be better (impact wise) but Redd was a pretty complete scorer in his own right, can't imagine Parker having many more tools in that regard.

If Parker has the passing skills some guys say he has, a play making Redd is a pretty damn good player even if he isn't much of a defender. Depending on how good that play making is you're starting to head into Harden type territory.

I guess the good thing for these people so oblivious to Parker is that they will get the luxury of being extremely pleasantly surprised once he becomes a Buck.
