Whatever dude. If you think it's a good idea to have the League control a player's life 24/7, then you're way off base. Gasp, even NBA players have lives outside basketball. These are grown men.

If a guy wants to pursue a music career or party on his own time as a legal adult, then that's his right. There is no debate here.

The owners caved on so many fundamental issues that would have fixed this game significantly. Eliminating guaranteed contracts needed to be a hard line in the sand. Instead, the majority went after a money grab and the landscape of the game still stinks.

Yay.

Saying a guy needs to come to work on time and perform is saying that the League should control their life 24/7?

Give me a **** break.

You guys are ridiculous with tweeting and taunting players. I'm not defending Jackson as a player (he's been terrible), but I will defend his right to live his life as he chooses.

I am not sure your age, if you work, personally I woukld never hire someone with your attitude....when your "personal" life effects your career, you no longer have a career in the real world.....now you know why so many who live in the real world can't stand the NBA, it is because of scum bags like Jackson.

Of course he needs to be on time, if not he faces suspension or other penalties. But some of you are going after Jackson because he wants to host a party on his own time. That's ridiculous.

No one is saying he can't go out and party. Who cares?

When he starts not showing up to work on time, being a problem at the work place and not performing... then they should be able to get rid of him.

I work in IT. If I go out, get hammered every night, just randomly don't come into work one day, mess a bunch of servers up and disobey my boss I should be fired.

Good lord man.

I remember back in the day ('96?) Cedric Ceballos took some time off from the Lakers during the early part of the season to go Jet Skiing.

No one is saying that Stephen Jackson, the person, should be prohibited from partying till all hours of the night.

They are saying that the Bucks should have the right to fire his ass if his choice to party affects his level of play (his job).

Libertarian values would agree.

Regardless, yet another terrible Chauncey move. I, myself, have more of a problem with Hammond's ability to keep his job despite his complete and utter incompetence, more so than Jax's complete and utter lack of caring.

Glenn Robinson smoked a pound of weed and two hours later had 25/7.

He can do all manner of things to pursue a music career that doesn't involve staying out all night before a game though. And he has 9 months out of the year plus the rest of his life to pursue it. This job requires peak physical conditioning. He's making a choice and his moonlighting affects the other job.

Point is what he is doing has absolutely impacted his physical ability to play. Fans absolutely have a right to express their discontent with the product, he is a part of the product. He is also somebody who presents himself as a winner the ultimate team guy, a professional. None of those things have been true.

My brother played with a dude in the D-League would would get high as hell before every game, and drink Captain and Cokes at halftime. And he usually abused dudes. If he didn't smoke/drink, he played with his head up his ass.

Partying on your own time and partying the night in between back to back games are two different things. You can't tell me with a straight face that high level athletes don't need proper rest and recovery in between games. Especially back to back nights with travel involved. No one is saying he should be controlled 24/7. He won't be 100% tonight though, you can't possibly debate that.

It's funny that Jax has the right to drink himself useless @ 10 million per year, but dare exercise your right to complain about it and you're ridiculous.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that. I totally support suspending dudes who show up hungover or late or whatever. But people on this forum are getting all over Jackson for hosting a party and sending him tweets and such. I think that's lame.

I'm not saying he should be suspended, I am saying he should be fired... as in off the team and his contract voided.

Same with d-bags like Eddie Curry, Gilbert Arenas, etc. **** those idiots.

Agreed. Once he's fired and free of any obligation to the Bucks, he'll have full time to pursue whatever interests he may have.

Well I don't feel like rehashing guaranteed contract discussions. There are points supporting/disputing both positions. I'm just not going to get on Jackson's case for all this. Suspend him, fine him, bench him, whatever. But if he wants to go out, that's his right and I think it's lame to tweet and taunt him.

What are the points that support guaranteed contracts?

That we need to pay guys who don't earn their contract? Wow, great argument.
