Ellis has the lowest bball IQ of any player I've seen here in a long time. One of the most frustrating players I've ever seen on this team. Glad to see us move on.

Just wait until you see Mayo completely check out at the end of games on a nightly basis.

What in the hell has Jennings shown that makes anyone think he has top-10 PG tools?

What NBA PG skill is he actually good at?

I'm prepared to move on without Jennings but I also would like to see him with our new coaching staff and wouldn't have a problem with him coming back. I still think he has star potential.

T/O rate. Passing. Defense. Handles. He just turns it all on and off when he feels like it.

I find your martyr complex to be quite sexy. Who can resist someone who needs to be the center of attention while playing the victim?

Irresistible.

SkilesTheLimit wrote:The problem I have most with Jennings is I see his potential. For whatever reason, he doesn't want to fully realize his full potential. He picks and chooses when he plays "the right way" (ie. smart and full effort) and doesn't seem like a leader that others want to follow.

He cares more about being a celebrity (or liked by them) over being the best basketball player he can be.

He has the tools to be a top 10 PG if he really committed to playing 82 games of pass first basketball, involving teammates and making them better.

He's just not right upstairs and I can't in good faith hand the keys to my franchise to a dude like that.

I disagree because he's a huge pansy that is allergic to the paint and to any type of contact. It is almost impossible to be a high impact offensive PG when you can't do anything within 10 feet of the rim (including both scoring and creating for others) and you rely almost completely on your jumper to score for yourself. Also, almost all of his assists come from swinging the ball on the perimeter rather than from penetration leading to very high percentage shots.

His upside is minimal because it is completely reliant on his jumper becoming elite. He's never going to be even an acceptable finisher in the paint or the type of guy that can up his value by drawing fouls. He is useless finishing with his left and he doesn't even attempt to finish with his right. Because he's such a pansy within 10 feet, he's never going to be the type that can attack the rim and create for others.

He's also never going to become a top notch defender because of his build and the fact that he is a pussy. He's also not a big threat on the break because he can't finish over anyone (or with either hand) or draw a foul so the best case scenario on the break in terms of him scoring is, guess what, a jumper.

The reason he's only marginally improved at best since his rookie year is the fact that the only part of the game he can really improve upon is his jumper, and he actually already shoots it at a solid level given how often he shoots off the dribble.

In short, Baddy has almost no upside. At his current level of play he's only marginally useful since he doesn't create easy looks for others and he is poor at creating offense for himself.

He's like a smaller, pussified Derek Fisher. His best role would be a Derek Fisher type role when Fisher was younger, but Baddy thinks he's a billion times better than that.

It's been stuck on "off" his entire career. Have we just divined the notion he can do all those things?

Which is really weird. Up until very recently, he was an apologist for their crappy moves and never held them to any standards. It was very obvious he hated Skiles and so I thought when he was fired, he'd go back to being the good soldier.

Hammond must have done something to tick him off. He's been very passive aggressive with their moves/non-moves this off-season.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

No, they haven't been "divined". He steadily avoided turn overs while playing for Skiles.

That was arguably his biggest asset.

I didn't say that I'd bank on him doing those things if he were brought back.

eta- In fact I doubt he can as long as his head's in "L.A.-L.A." land.

But he's definitely done all of those things before, when the effort was evident.

Solid signing for decent money considering his age. For those saying he's a bad defender, I guess that means we should ignore the fact he's been at worst a +3/100 defender every single season the league? For those saying he's a bad defender I hope you watched him play most of his games or I hope you never use that stat the rest of your time on this forum.

His TO rate better be low considering almost all of his passing comes from the perimeter.

Reading this thread while drunk, is hysterical. We may seriously be the most intelligent fans in the NBA and no one knows it. My god. This is great!

Mayo's assist (19.4)% was the highest he ever had under Carlisle, hopefully the trend continues here with Larry Drew's motion offense.

I'd have to imagine there being no chance that happens because he won't be playing point guard 1/10th of the time he did in Dallas.
