If we can get Asik and Brewer for Ilyasova and Udoh, then flip Asik and Wolters for Lamb and Perkins I think that would help the tank tremendously and we would get Lamb.

That would be one of the best case scenarios if this deal went down. Not that I believe this deal will happen.

I agree with those that say this move makes us worse, and I can see using that as rationale to make the trade. But I'm fearful that tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum see this as win-now, and make some other accompanying bonehead moves.

You serious ?
we get the biggest chip in the deal. any deal that brings back a better asset than goes out without immediately impacting wins is a solid deal. we can worry fit and roster balance later. who gives a sh't hes another center? we want to win 15 games on the season anyway.

I actually don't hate this trade in a vacuum assuming the Bucks could deal Sanders for a PG (maybe Teague for example but that's not legal under the CBA).
But that's trusting Hammond to make a mufti-faceted move, something I don't see happening.

Can't we include ten of the seventy second round picks we have coming up instead of Wolters?

Re: Bucks talking Asik
I think we would have to flip Asik this year in order to get good value. He's worth a lot more to contenders for two playoff runs especially given the salary structure of his contract.
He's going to be paid $15 million next year, and while 7 of that doesn't count against the cap, for most teams an extra 8 million is a big deal. OKC for example isn't going to give up assets to pay him $15 million for one playoff run given that Bennett is cheap. Perkins is due 9 million next year, but by then Adams might be playing 30+ minutes per.
Center is a pretty deep position, and those already in contending mode are set there for the most part.

I'd love a deal like Ersan/Neal for Lamb/PJIII.

I don't know, man. Losses tend to have a negative effect on player value. And if Larry comes back and one or both of those guys start agitating? Something Asik is currently showing a fairly extreme willingness to do? That won't help.
That's without getting into whether or not we'd actually make this hypothetical follow up move, which, given our recent history, I'm guessing we wouldn't.

I'm not trading for Asik just because I can trade for Asik. It's a waste of our assets IMO.
Even if it's the complete opposite - If we do trade for him it would be because Hammond and co view him as helping us win right now. No way would we be moving him for anything. It isn't what the Bucks do.
The trade will also decrease Sanders value too.

I know there have been rumblings about Lamb for a more experienced player, but I'd still be shocked if a deal like that occurred. Jackson/Lamb have been awesome recently and my guess is that OKC doesn't add significant salary unless it's a massive talent upgrade.

Re: Bucks talking Asik
Guys you have to stop thinking we are going to flip Asik for young players / picks. That would be maximizing your return on an asset, we don't do that. We are targeting Asik because the front office thinks it will make our team better right now and save them the current embarrassment of having the worst record in the league.
You're only going to get disappointed if you are hoping for young players and picks to eventuate out of this, like we have been many times before. We will put together an ugly front court of Asik, Sanders and Henson, be shocked when it doesn't work and lose Asik for nothing after next year when he walks as a FA.

No kidding. It's the same way people justified taking Ellis for Bogut (i.e. that we'd flip Ellis), how'd that work out?

I also feel like Ersan's current play is affecting the perception of his game. Not necessarily on this board, but definitely elsewhere in the media and on the interwebz. Every year he starts slow and then picks it up big time the 2nd half. Add in his hamstring injury and it paints a clear picture of why he's been poor.
I guess the same could be said about Asik to a degree since he's been stuck behind Dwight and has shown his disdain for that situation. I just think an Ersan/Asik swap isn't even an upgrade as an asset.

And if we were going to flip Asik straight away for pieces why couldn't Houston just do the same thing ?

Asik as you know, must be dealt within the window of December 15th to December 19th due to specific ramifications of his contract.
I hope you're right.
But the Asik window isn't because of his contract: it's so that whatever asset Houston gets, they could still flip before the trade deadline, as a team over the cap cannot immediately flip a player.
I think they could flip anybody they got, they just wouldn't be able to combine his salary with another player's to make a trade work. The window is just the most advantageous time for them to make a deal, and since that's how they generally operate, that's when they'll likely deal him. I don't think it's imperative it happens then, though. His value isn't going up after Dec. 19th as he continues to not play and his remaining contract gets shorter and shorter.

True, They'd have to really want him though. And with the signs Jones has shown lately I doubt they do.
