'14 Draft Thread pt 2: vote again? VOTE AGAIN.

If the Bucks get a Top 3 pick, something they may want to look into is doing a 3 team trade that would allow the Bucks to send their Top 3 pick along with Ersan and their three second rounders from this year for picks #6 and #7 in this year's draft.

One scenario is they could pick LaVine and Randle.

PG- LaVine
SG- Knight
SF- Giannis
PF- Randle
C- Sanders

Bench: Wolters, Mayo, Middleton, Henson, Zaza

No. You don't trade a top 3 pick unless you're getting an established star player in return. Would you trade Carmelo Anthony (3) for Chris Kaman (6) and Kirk Hinrich (7)?

No, I would not trade Carmelo for Kaman and Hinrich. However, I would trade Kidd-Gilcrest (#2) for Damian Lillard (#6) and Harrison Barnes (#7). You just never know how these players will develop. Besides, LaVine and Randle have plenty of potential and can be great or could bust, just like Wiggins could.

For me it breaks down to 4 guys.

Wiggins - I think this is your biggest "name" and marketable player. He's athletic wing with high potential and fits a need.

Parker - For me he just screams the safest pick. He seems to have a good work ethic, IQ, and most importantly the talent. I don't know if he is a "superstar" but I think you get a a player that won't bust. Also would be marketable.

Embiid - Its hard to pass on a talented legit 7'. It seems like his stock is rising. If we're still committed to Sanders, this isn't necessarily a need position.

Exum - The wild card. There appears to be alot to like about this guy from his height, athleticism, handles, etc. He fits a need and we'd be able to move Knight to SG. He's young so a learning curve would be needed. Least marketable b/c of being an unknown to the casual fan.

I just can't decide which one I'd go with.

Fair enough, but this comes back to the original debate about where most all-NBA and all-star players get drafted. Someone put up a chart a while back (can't remember which thread) that proved that, once you leave the top 5, you have an incredibly slim chance of drafting a superstar or even all-star type player.

Guys like Lillard and Paul George are the outliers, obviously, but there are probably 4 "blue-chip" prospects in this draft class alone. LaVine and Randle have potential, but not Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, and Exum potential. A top 5 pick in this draft should be considered an untouchable asset imo. It would take a king's ransom of picks and prospects for me to even consider trading it.

I was actually thinking of the graph chart that was posted in the forum a while back, but this works as well, thank you.

Thus, on a statistical basis, over seven out of every ten (73%) of the top-tier players during the study period were picked in the top five, and approximately one out of ten (11%) were selected with picks 6-10.

^^Is pretty much all you need to know.

Just found a weird scenario. Bucks ended up getting Jabari with the 4th pick...
1. Cavs - Embiid
2. Magic - Wiggins
3. Nuggets - Exum
4. Bucks - Parker

If you're curious about the probability of the Bucks getting certain picks, I'd recommend looking at the odds instead of pushing the button a million times...will save you some time.

Parker can become Melo and better - he's shown it. But Wiggins has shown nothing comparable to Pippen. Pippen was a point forward. Wiggins averages 1.4 steals to 1.8 to's per game. He's a scorer; not a playmaker. And on the defensive side, he hasn't shown anywhere near the ability that Pippen had to create turnovers.

So yah - you can make a good comp from Parker to Melo, but no - you comparing Wiggins to da Pip is a nonstarter.
