He knows the way to succesfull basketball. I believe this could turn out to be a great move for the Bucks. I'd hire him.

We need a Pat Richter or Bob Harlan type hire. Kidd isn't that sort of person.

But Ruben Patterson wasn't in charge of the entire organization. People understand some players are knuckleheads in their personal life. Running the entire organization, dealing with business matters and setting the tone culturally as team President? Major distinction.

Lets just keep things in perspective, not defending with Kidd has done but he got a DWI and had a bad relationship with a crazy chick. He's not Hitler, I'm not too worried about his personal baggage coming back to haunt us.

Yeah...it's not like he abuses animals or wears roller skates to fight Albanians.

Coach is essentially irrelevant, why not roll the dice with a big name?

Ruben Patterson was also a proven player. Kidd hasn't proven anything.

One other thing, why would we ever consider giving any compensation, even 2nd round picks? If Prokhorov is "done with" Kidd then why not just say "we're not interested", wait for the firing and pounce?

1. Coach is essentially irrelevant = Ugh.

2. We're talking about him running the whole show, not being coach.

That's fine, but all those personal behaviors then manifested themselves in his professional life. Go back and read that Tim Bontemps article. It just scratches the surface. Then read all the tweets running tonight from pretty much every writer who has had to cover him over the last 20 years. He doesn't have a lot of supporters out there for a reason.

Might be a great basketball mind, may even do some good his first year or two. But this will blow up like all his other situations in his life have.

This would be an AWFUL hire. I cannot think of any single reason why people would want to hire him or think it is a good move.

Yes, he was a Great Player...... Unfortunately, there is no known correlation linking the Skill of Dribbling/Passing a Basketball and being able to identify talent/run an organization.

Heck, most athletes are idiots (not surprising since they get self selected due to physical abilities primarily). We need individuals with preferably experience in evaluating talent and at least has a track record indicating high intelligence/leadership.

And Kidd is a - winner? Really, the last thing I associate with Kidd is winning.

Kidd is a piece of human garbage. I'm not even talking all this DUI, wife-beater stuff. I'm talking about being illoyal, sociopathic, sneaky, and power hungry right in his living room, right among his peeps (his owners, his assistant coaches): in the NBA.
I've come to the conclusion that most folks don't really care that you broke one of the rules... they just enjoy telling you that you broke it.

I thought Edens was the one with the power for the first five years. Come on Edens, flex your muscle and smack Lasry for even thinking about this.

Uh no. Winning takes a highly competent general manager with full operational control along with lottery balls for top five picks.

This whole thing could potentially be a tantrum by Kidd because he apparently has 3-years left on his coaching contract that pays him $2.5 million per season and he's now butthurt seeing these newer hires like Fischer and Kerr get $5 million per. So he likely wants to get a "promotion" so he can be paid more and once rebuffed on that decides as it relates to the Net's that he's out, which would be pretty consistent with his track record. He's not long for many situations.

Ok, but what if he just came to coach? Then I think it's fine.

I remember Cuban being pissed at Kidd for leaving Dallas. Seems like Kidd didn't handle that well. There are more examples of Kidd making moves that piss people off than there are examples of Kidd doing things that create goodwill - something that would be helpful if he was to take a front office role here or anywhere.

Stereotyping right here, a lot of athletes are more cerebral than you'd think
