So I'm looking for stuff I can buy on DVD. I plowed through this

The Shield
The Wire
True Blood
SOA
Breaking Bad
Dexter
Califorication
Sopranos
6 feet under
GOT

I just grabbed the Spartacus series. I like the idea of complete series that I may have missed over the years but really anything with a couple of seasons under its belt I can grab on DVD or Bluray

Let's see here.... 24 (As suggested) could be very good. The Soprano's could fill a lot of time as well.

True Detective is a good watch. The first season was great, the second was good.

TD is one of those shows that if I knew then what I know now, I never would have started watching that series.

The second was that bad?

I love the first season without reservation, though I know some people had issues with the end. The second season is hilariously bad. Just so, so, bad.

His accents are always hilarious. He is just terrible at them.

His Bane accent was absolutely ridiculous, but I loved it. I was doing the Bane voice for months after TDKR came out.

I'll still release the Bane voice on occasion..

Masterpiece of a flick, in large part because of Hardy. Christened my new TV with it last weekend and would rank it over Dark Knight.

Yeah, both Dark Knights are really good for showing off high end TVs, especially the IMAX city shots.

I love Christopher Nolan movies, but Dark Knight Rises is probably my least favorite of his.

And on the TV side, True Detective season one was riveting. Season 2? Eeeehhhhh... I don't know.

The best made TV show right now is NARCOS.

I like it, but it's one of the few cases recently where I think splitting it into two movies actually could have helped it. I really appreciate the ambition of the "Tale of Two Cities" narrative with the the revolution going on at the center of the story but that requires like a "Doctor Zhivago" scale of epicness. Trying to squeeze all of that into even a 160 minute movie just felt rushed to me.

I plowed through Narcos last month and wow was that well made and acted by every single character.

After that a friend told me to try Bloodline also on Netflix. It isn't as good as Narcos, but was well worth watching.

I like that both were only two seasons. It's hard for me to want to try a show that has say 4-7 seasons to watch. Unless it's great, to much of a time investment.

I tried Taboo and seems like it could be good. Tom Hardy is a great actor. My issue was getting tired of having to rewind so much because i couldn't understand what any number of characters was saying.

Subtitles! I had the same problem but subtitles are huge in shows like this.

Yeah I learned that trying to get through 3 seasons of Peaky Blinders, its much worse ....

The best TV show is on Comedy Central. New shows come out on Wednesdays... It's about foul mouthed kids getting into all sorts of shenanigans. I think it's called Legends of South Park.

I like it a lot too. I'm not religious at all but I don't care, it's a good show. Not that it leans towards 'recruiting' anyway... if anything it would make Christians cringe. A bit slow at times but Law's character is great.

Did a great job with the music too.

The first season of Damages may be the best season of TV I've ever seen. Glenn Close and Ted Danson absolutely kill it in this show.

Normally not a fan of war type shows but I'm loving Six on the History Channel.

another great show no one is talking about..

Opinions?
DB? I know you have some feedback on them...

Love Taboo. One of the best shows on TV right now. Tom Hardy owns the hell out of his character, like always. Can't wait to see where it goes.

I watched the first ten minutes of the Black Sails pilot and decided it wasn't for me. Seems low quality, low budget, etc. To each their own of course.

Sorry to butt in everyone.
Just couldn't keep quiet when I read this. Give Black Sails a go. I felt exactly the same thing after watching the pilot. It's a good three episodes before it gets going. Season 2 is one of the best seasons of a show I've seen on TV. Season 3 had me questioning if I preferred it to GOTs. Season 4 will be its last season. It's cool that they're wrapping up the story but I think those first 3 episodes of season 1 really hurt it. Nobody ever gave it a chance. In my top 5 shows that I've ever seen.

Yep
Give it a bit of time, wont be sorry. (Unless you hate period stuff.)
Not low quality at all, maybe not HBO , but better than History/FX channel stuff.
Luke Arnold is great, Toby Stephens grows on you, Vane is cool character.
Ray Stevenson has his best role since Rome.
Plenty of eye candy (Spartacus fans would approve)
I am a sucker for Pirate stuff, and love the Caribbean backdrop.
There is a WTF moment (where did that come from) in s2 but I got over it.
