Middleton was shrinking or streaky. Bledsoe was awful, DDV and pat were off, hill didn't want to be there, and korver was looking older then the balding rec league guys at the Y.

BB changes that. BB should have plenty of open shots with all the attention Giannis will be getting, AND BB can create too. When the offense gets stagnant he can help create and get things going.

Dude has been hitting clutch shots his entire career going back to Europe.

Last 2 post seasons all we needed was a guy who could hit a shot when we needed it, and he can play that part.

This has got to be the best squad Bogdan has ever played with. I'm very excited to see what all of these players do with a full starting line-up for the first time in their careers.

Agreed. Talent wins in the NBA and your starting-5 is what wins you playoff series. The current starting lineup, at least on paper, looks better than it did last season. I just think it's fair to question if these were the right kind of talents to go "all-in" for, at least to the extent that we did.

I guess it will depend on the protection on the picks. Assuming Giannis stays, which seems like it will happen, barring injury the first rounders are going to be 25-30 range. I believe if you have a good GM, you can find players that can give you comparable contributions to late 1sts with the minimums, etc. Not many players in that draft range are contributors.

Sounds like they're still trying to get the NBA to take Leuer off our cap - which could help our chances.

Doesn't change my point about the future. If we resign Holiday, we are looking at 140m for our top 5 guys in 22/23. If we get a MLE guys, that's 160+m for top 6, 3 of which would be pretty old at that point. I'm all in, but this could blow up too

Great point. I completely agree with you - and I think Horst dramatically improved Jrue's bargaining power - which could totally mess up the 21/22 roster... which nobody cares about right now but will surely be complaining about later.

Bargaining power in what way exactly? He's almost certainly getting a max contract no matter what bargaining power he has.

Before the trade, he was not a max type player. His stats weren't even as good as Bledsoe's. Giving up 3 FRP's plus Bledsoe plus Hill plus 2 trade options on FRP's defined his value to the Bucks and more than likely increased the price he'll get.

What was our main weakness in the playoffs?
The wall defense.
Why?
Because good coaches/defenses could cheat of players like Bledsoe to make something crazy like that work.

What was our second biggest weakness in the playoffs?
Creating shots in the clutch with Giannis phasing the wall defense.

What was our third biggest weakness in the playoffs?
Depending on a overrated bench to get us out of trouble just like the regular season.

A much greater coach than Bud or a GOAT caliber Giannis(with a shot) could had fixed that but Holiday+Bogdan automatically solved most of the problems instead. We have a whole season left to build a simple playable bench and we're good to go.

This is the first time in 7 years that Giannis will play besides an elite backboard btw.

Bledsoe shot 25% or worse from 3 in the last two playoffs. Enough said, bad fit with Giannis.

We're probably worrying that Donte is going to keep climbing and find a steady shot, and yet what about the Sacramento Kings organization and their player development suggests that Donte will get better and make us regret this trade? We'll probably pity him. More importantly, he was my 5-year old's second favorite Buck and I will miss hearing my boy say the full names of GIannis A and Donte D back to back when I ask him his favorite Bucks players to show off to my friends at parties (yeah I know there's clearly better parties out there)....But him saying Bogdan Bogdanovic is more than a consolation prize.

Love this. Can we keep Wes as a backup? That would be amazing.

This also makes me want to go over the trade board and mock every kings fan who was talking crazy about the trade proposals for bogdan asking for 1st round picks :D

I get that Giannis wanted Bogdan, so we had to do it, but every all encompassing metric says Donte is better, and he's $11 million cheaper per year, and younger. Its a bad trade without James.

I can't imagine James had any significant effect on the trade. He was a 40th pick, and he's done nothing to improve his value. Speaking of which, i hope the Bucks buy a couple of mid 2nd rounders tomorrow.

Things said about Middleton in the Jennings trade.

Yep, these trades (hopefully) cured our biggest playoff woes, which is why I don't care about the draft picks going out. We were close to a 70 win team last season, and this team is significantly better assuming we round out the roster with decent vet min depth. But we solved our biggest problems come playoff time with what they have done so far.

Sign Gallo, Bayne and Augustine. Buy a second or two, maybe bring back Korver and Patty C.

Could be a year the Bucks pull off a Bud Hawks ASG & Mike can coach the team once again, since had his off year. Brook/Giannis & two of Khris/Bogdan/Jrue. Maybe all five with the bench for ASG factored.

No ASG this year
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Midds was like a lottery pick that paid off big. That's fine, but you can't depend on another lottery ticket to come up big like that.

I was thinking the same thing. He's not an elite player but he does almost EVERYTHING above average. He can create his own shot, pass, play defense, handles the ball well, can shoot from super deep and can come off ball screens for the catch and shoot. I really like this move more and more.

Holiday and Bogdanovic combined to score over 34 ppg last year

Pelicans' shooters averaged 1.25 points per shot (!) on Holiday's 723 assist opportunities

Bogdanovic hit over 40% of his 323 catch-and-shoot 3s, but only 29% of 118 off-the-dribble 3s.
