the only way Nwora is playing 15-20 minutes is if we have significant injuries AND there's no one to pick up from the scrap heap.

Is he fast enough to play the 3 or is he more of a stretch 4?
Need to se him more on the court to tell if he is a Mids or an Ersan type

He does look quick enough for the 3, and also looks too small to be a stretch 4. He looks quicker than he was in college.

I hope the rookies get ahead of Patty C soon on the rotations.

Really hoping Bud gives both rookies a shot to earn minutes over basically everyone but DJA and Portis.

Bud has never developed a draft pick into a stud unless you consider Denis Schroder a stud. He had Bazemore after a year in the league as well.

My point? If Nwora or Merrill develop into more than average NBA players, it'll be a rarity for rookies coached by Bud.

ETA: I guess Bud was the coach when ATL drafted John Collins who should be a Buck anyway, but I digress...

No I think it was right the first time. Neither are a PG or a big and DJA and Portis are obvious rotation guys. I'm hoping the rookies show something to be rotation guys over Craig and more so Forbes and Pat - those are all fine vets to have to round out a bench as depth and match up guys but they all bring like one thing (defense, shooting, energy). The rooks at least have a chance to be more versatile contributors, especially offensively obviously.

The way I'm approaching this is playing the highest impact players the most regardless of position. If the guards perform best as follows #1 Jrue, #2 DDV, #3 Merrill. Then those are the guards you prioritise playing. Khris & Giannis can handle Point duties with the guards. If Nwora is the best forward after Khris & Gianni's, you slide Giannis to the 5 if you have to.

Every one will play this year. It's the way Bud is but at the end of the day, the best producers should get the most shine.

I'm less worried with Nwora being a stud and more worried with him being a role player that is useful. I am not sure if it is fair to give Bud credit for making Demarre Carroll and Bazemore useful, but if I do, and if Nwora ends up in a tier similar to those guys in their prime, kudos for all involved.

I will say, this is pretty much the least I have ever looked at prospects and I'm not ashamed to admit I had literally never heard of either of our draft picks. But after watching some highlights in college and in the pros, they both seem to not have puckered butts when they have the ball. They almost seem to have, confidence when they shoot. Which is something our roster was massively missing last season and in the playoffs.

I’ve been trying to think of who Nwora compares with and the guy I keep thinking of is a taller version of Brogdan.

I agree but I'm not sure if it's just cause he looks like him on the court for some reason (demeanor and physical appearance). I think though his shot looks similar too. He seems to be in control and polished like brogdon is but not super athletic as well.

Well he chose number 13 because of Glenn Robinson, and he has the same size and height as the Big Dog. What about comparing Nwora to Glenn Robisnson?

The catch and shoot three from the corner was fantastic. He was almost facing the bench as he received the ball, smoothly turned to his right and had the shot up almost before his body was even squared up.

Korver and Middleton were probably the only two guys on the roster capable of hitting that shot last season. Like I said, the two rooks are much more composed than the guys we lost and I don't think that is an accident. I think Horsty still uses the Hammond's playbook in the offseason which is 1.) what was our biggest deficiency, then based on that 2.) how far can we swing the pendulum in that direction to (over)correct

Other than the hair, the reason he comps to Brogdon is Brogdon was a very composed player on a roster of spazzy dudes. I think that is what people are recognizing.

We really need to all collectively stop talking about Bogdan (Bogdanovic) so that I can go back to assuming everyone has typed (Malcolm) Brogdan when those general letters are used.

He should be replacing either Pat or Forbes in the DJA-Forbes-Pat-OGDJ-Portis lineup.

He reminds me of Covington.

Covington with worse defense?
still learning the game
