The minor league players and minor league coach beat the Aussies. I guess that means the whole Aussie team is high school level.

Calathes at least has a Greek father, but bizarre he hasn't learned a word of Greek all those years living there

Walkup does at least have a Greek partner. On Calathes' language thing. He said he studied Greek language for like 5 years, and that he can understand what is being said. He still doesn't seem to speak it though.

In fairness to him his heritage goes back a couple of generations so it makes sense that they were assimilated into the US culture and didn't speak Greek in the house. I was born in the US but my parents emigrated here and we spoke Greek in the household, and my sisters and I are fluent, with reading and writing as well. Depends on the person.

Calathes feel for the game is off. Mitoglou was going good in the 2nd half & while overlooking Giannis rolls, he also failed to hit the hot hand on multiple open looks.

Greece advances if Serbia beats South Sudan by 3 or more

Do you know what happens if South Sudan loses by 2, and both Greece and South Sudan have a -8 pd?

It then goes to total points. If South Sudan scores more than 58 points, they would advance.

Why is Spain eliminated and below Greece when Spain beat them head to head?

Random question, is there some rule or reason 2-3rd tier NBA players can't play in the 3 on 3? I thought maybe the qualifications didn't line up with schedules or something.

It's not really a competition for high level pro league players. Most of the European 3x3 teams are made up of players that compete in European national domestic league 2nd and 3rd divisions. So professional players, but not from high level leagues.

OK yea that's what I thought, like there's no reason its just the way it is. But maybe over time now that its a part of Olympics some higher level guys will do it in the future. 3 borderline all star NBA guys would walk through this

It's a three-way tie for 2nd-4th place, which means it goes to point differential in their head-to-head games. Spain has the worst point differential in those games.

Yep, it is about how the commitments required to qualify involve stuff that substantially overlaps the NBA season. It's not really possible to be a nationally ranked 3x3 player and play in the NBA.

Still not clear on how Greece gets in. Serbia has to win tomorrow by 3, correct?

Sheesh, can’t believe we lost to a country of folks who sit around in the sun, drinking and laughing and eating lamb.

I'll go to my grave without understanding why Spanoulis is more beloved than Papaloukas and Diamantidis.

I love watching both the Australian and Greek teams and got what I wanted. You're a pathetically bitter and twisted, minor league enthusiast who hates his own country's GOAT.

Looking forward to you blasting Giannis on the general board when Greece loses! Just remember your hate won't make anybody care any more about the Greek Monta Ellis.
