Monroe reminds me of the center version of Rudy Gay. Contribute to some solid teams? Sure. Could you remove him from the equation and not lose a whole lot? Yup.

What about pek? Would think the wolves would be open to move him but I haven't heard his name in any rumors. I guess they really don't need to shed salary since they aren't chasing fa so maybe they would want assets in return instead of just absorbing his salary.

Between Lopez and Monroe, who fits our teams style and Coach Kidd's philosophies better?

By the way, if you type in Break the Internet Milwaukee Bucks into Google Image search, pictures of Mallory Edens show up.

Would he make this team better? Yup.

I'd send Greg Monroe an apology Edible Arrangements if Pek was the other option.

Usage is a completely different discussion and one that does worry me.

What position will he play on our team? Because it sure as hell won't be PF.

Center. I'm 99% certain RPM doesn't take into account what position he plays on the court though. It's fair to question that the role he played won't necessarily be the same as what he's doing in MKE because that's what RPM is, but being a plus defender is obviously good no matter the scheme. Let Zaza teach him for a year and I think he will be just fine.

Could you replace him with David Lee and be equally as good? More likely than not.

This is how im rationalizing it. I've never been a fan of his and think I think we need a low usg C long term (Bismack!), but all things considered if we can sign Monroe this off-season it'd be hard for me to call it a bad move.

He was actually better in that department at center, mate.

http://www.brewhoop.com/2015/7/1/8876069/bucks-greg-monroe-free-agency-2015

Defensively, Monroe has been an above-average rebounder throughout his career, averaging a double-double per 36 minutes each of the past four seasons. But he's hardly a prototypical defensive center; he's not a rim protector and doesn't have the quickness to handle quick fours or the ideal size to battle with elite offensive bigs. Nevertheless, his encouraging defensive RPM of +2.29 last season suggests his IQ makes up for a lot, and his splits at center are encouraging on both ends. In 805 minutes playing without Drummond and Josh Smith, Monroe averaged an exceptional 21.6 points/36 minutes on 59.3% true shooting (via NBA Wowy), and the Pistons were actually better defensively with Monroe at center (104.3 pts/100 possessions) vs. Drummond (108.9). Interestingly, they were dramatically better offensively with Drummond in the middle (112.1) than Monroe (106.1), though the bottom line remains that both guys were very good without the other.

Reinforces they are much better individually than with each other. Oddly, Drummond was even better off offensively, Monroe defensively. But like he said, Monroe was still a plus on offense, and put up a 59.3 ts%. That's consistent with how Monroe played before Drummond, and natural improvement. Always and ill-fated pairing.

May not be an "asset" but those stats put it over the top for me to just try to get Hibbert. Might even get an asset for taking him on.

You could make the argument that we have better variety and versatility with Monroe. I wonder if he would even see some time (5 min or so) at PF alongside Henson based on certain matchups like the Spurs with Aldridge and Duncan (if that happens) or the Grizz with Randolph and Gasol.

Play these two lineups:

MCW/Middleton/Giannis/Parker/Monroe

Vasquez/Vaughn/Middleton/Monroe/Henson

Half (5.1) of Monroe's 10.2 rebounds per game last year were uncontested and on the defensive end.

I feel like there should be a bunch of decent defensive centers in Europe who can hit an open three. We need to find one and give him all the money.

or completely max draymond green and start him at "center". im not even kidding. im sure warriors match but if not him just get a physical, active guy who can shoot some and play up front. just go with that. the friggin warriors just won a title with that. its not like we don't have "true centers" that can play if we have to go big.

I'd take Draymond over Monroe 100/100 times

Easily would take Monroe over Lopez and Jordan. Only other big men I would look at are the pipe dreams of Aldrige, Gasol, and Cousins and we all know they are most likely not coming here.

Just sign Monroe to the Max and have a good team going into camp.

I like Asik but man do I despise the team they're putting around Davis.
