Kings are a mess of a franchise. Their owner is a first class boob and I'd rather be a 76ers fan today than a Kings fan.
At least the 76ers have a direction. The Kings are doing their best to wallow in mediocrity.

We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

Free Agency Thread -Woj Bomb: Inroads with Monroe!
So they draft Stauskas over Payton which shouldn't have ever happened in the first place, and then dump him after a year.
And they traded Isaiah Thomas for Darren Collinson and Ramon Sessions. They traded Sessions and now they are looking to pay another PG when they could've had Elfrid and IT, OR could've drafted Mudiay. Not to mention all of the coaching mess

or completely max draymond green and start him at "center". im not even kidding. im sure warriors match but if not him just get a physical, active guy who can shoot some and play up front. just go with that. the friggin warriors just won a title with that. its not like we don't have "true centers" that can play if we have to go big.
I'd take Draymond over Monroe 100/100 times
That's a gross over-reaction to what technically won recently in one series. If the Cavs had an offensive center who could take much advantage of Green's lack of size on the block, they'd have won, or forced a change back to Bogut at least, weakening their offense.
If anything that series displayed the potential value of an offensive, truer center like Monroe, and how they could be a real trump card in the NBA against some teams if they have a solid supporting case surrounding them.
It goes far beyond 1 series. Green finished #2 in DPOy, is a better passer, and is infinitely better for spacing. I'm also not even convinced Monroe contributes very much to winning.
I would hate a Monroe signing. Seems like a classic decent stats on bad teams type

His plan might work but I hope it doesn't. I don't want 10 gms coping the lose at all cost plan.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of Stauskas really, but I am a fan of smart acquisitions. Buy-low opportunity on lottery prospects will get applause from me every time, particularly from my 2nd favorite organization in the NBA at the moment. Hinkie leaves the space open, extends his hand, and has another lottery ticket to scratch. 1 year removed from the 8th pick where lots of people were gaga for Nik (advanced stats darling), you roll the dice because you never know. Time and place are always important and maybe Sacramento wasn't meant to be for Stauskas.
Go Bucks!

AussieBuck wrote:Hibbert is a way better fit. Monroe is the opposite of a good fit. Too much usage, no range, underwhelming defender. The argument we need a low post scoring C when all 4 of our young guys plays in the post is stupid. Average NBA player, max contract, terrible fit. **** sucks when Hammonds has money to spend.
Saying all four of our young guys play in the post and acting as if they excel in that area is off base. A lot of the post ups were the product of the inability of anyone on our roster to go out and get easy buckets for the sake of just trying to get something going.
How is it that Hibbert fares in our defensive scheme, stepping out to defend the pick and roll, hedge, and recover? That's an area that exposes Hibbert to the nth degree, and basically just asks the team to give up easy bucket after easy bucket. If you have him sit in the paint, you lose the helter skelter style that allowed us to create so many turnovers all season long. Greg Monroe's understanding of positioning when defending the pick and roll is a far better fit in this system. The fact that Monroe shows solid hands on the defensive end in coming up with steals is an added bonus. You have to ask yourself how much Hibbert's rim protection truly improves this team at the expense of how our defense even operates. With an elite defense with Zaza Pachulia on the floor, I want to know if you think our defense devolves with Monroe on the floor instead. I don't think it'll matter much. Repeating the notion that Monroe is an "underwhelming" defender isn't accurate at this point. He's average, possibly even slightly above, he's just not the sexy swat your shot defender.
In my opinion, the biggest way our defense ACTUALLY improves is us being able to limit the second opportunities we gave up so often last season. This is another area in which Monroe is substantially better than Hibbert. There's really no denying this.
Monroe is substantially more dangerous on the block given the rate he scores and his ability to get to the free throw line through drawing help and picking up fouls. While both he and Hibbert are good passers (though Monroe has the edge), Monroe's advantage in this area should provide him more opportunities to create easy looks for his teammates, while also opening up the floor once the double comes.
Hibbert does have a discernible advantage when it comes to his ability to step outside and hit the midrange jumper, but how much does that really open up our offense when Hibbert isn't exactly a guy you want to step out and launch from 15 feet out? It's a skill that I think is more of a luxury than a complete necessity. As other posters have stated, the ceiling of this team depends on the jumpshot development of our other young guys.
For every, "too much usage, no range, bad defender" comment there's a "slow, plodding, no rebounding, head case" comment to offset it. Hibbert strengthens strengths (again to what degree) while Monroe makes us more well rounded and versatile, giving us a skill set we currently have no semblance of. With Henson off the bench as a change of pace 5, it makes the fit look even better.

Kings are a must watch train wreck if they roll out Cousins, Gay, Monta, & Rondo coached by Karl!

The best thing to happen to George Karl today would be to get fired.

Bucks trade for Lawson then send him and Jabari to Sac for Cousins. I don't know if I am joking.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

This makes me sad. I feel like we could have had both of them, given what they were traded for. And that's the exact type of offseason we should be having. Instead we're back to owning the future with middling vets. Ugh.

LeBron GM is going to sink LeBron the player, and David Blatt is the guy that will have to pay for it. That doesn't even factor in Love, but I think they could flip him pretty quick to someone by the trade deadline if it isn't working out in CLE.
It's recency bias and association with winning. But I don't think the Cavs would have been the only ones to fall into that trap. If they didn't sign them for that amount of money, someone else would have for near it. That doesn't make it right, I'm just saying it's not overly a sign of the Cavs' dysfunction. And part of me is like if Gilbert is willing to pay it, so be it. But I feel like principally they could have gotten similar production for 1/10th to 1/20th of the cost in the last draft in the form of guys like Harrell and Anderson. They aren't sure bets, but they are probabilities, IMO, and they could reasonably out-produce them as well.

I didn't realize Monroe was a middling vet at 24-25
