Look for the Bucks to look at Holiday's brother, who is a free agent. He's decent and probably an upgrade over Matthews. Definitely better than Teague.

I think we can find a replacement for Hill and Matthews with the MLE and BAE. If we can land Gallo we upgraded even more.

The guard options in free agency are terrible. Like, putrid. That's one reason Wes is opting out in the first place. He knows it's a chance to get a big raise due to a shortage of players like him being available and multiple contenders needing them. I bet he doubles the minimum salary he had to settle for last year, unless he prioritizes a team that can't offer anything more than the minimum.

Not a bad idea. Hope so.

Yeah I would go so far as to say nearly our entire problem in the bubble was defensively. Didn't we go from comfortably the best defensive team in the league to 15th in the bubble or something?

Heard on a podcast this week, the “experts” have him pencilled in at about $7mm per year.

In fact, is it a stretch to say Bogdan probably would have been the best player on the roster for that skill?

Is Joe Harris just reckless speculation? I see him getting more $ than Bogdan

For the Bucks to win a championship Giannis has to be better....or at least more complete. If Giannis shot 77% from the line they beat the Raptors 2 years ago

Yes, people are just looking at other potential targets assuming Bogdan isn't happening. Might happen this way, but Harris getting more money than Bogdan seems crazy to me.

He's not going to get more money than Bogdan, but he's almost certainly going to get more than the MLE that we can offer (without pursuing him in a sign-and-trade). Also Kevin O'Connor reported that he's expected to return to Brooklyn so he might not be an option anyways.

I know this was probably discussed somewhere, but can anyone clearly say what the difference is between signing Pat and/or Sterling to the 3 year (1 year guaranteed contract), other than the initial shock of seeing the numbers, vs Ersan's expiring?

Does it play into the exception calculation or the trade $ coming back in a different way that makes it so difficult? Frank is making it seem like it's sort of crazy and almost implausible on the LOB podcast.

Honestly we aren't going to be getting anyone at the level of bogi/harris/gallo. This super weak FA class has inflated their price wildly. We could bring back Pat and Brown and then go after Giles and a guard ala Etwaun, the other Holliday or DJ. Bogi was our best way to improve the starting unit but sadly that isn't happening so we should bring back our depth as much as we can and hopefully a trade opportunity arises during the season.

Harris is getting around 18M annually.

There are two very disappointing aspects in this situation.

1) People keep on looking at the wrong thing regarding the Bogdan situation.

It is not just about the shooting (btw Bogdan is a better shooter than DDV, plain and simple). It is mainly about the playmaking. The Bucks' biggest issue has been the playmaking. Wasted possessions, dribbling into traffic, overusage of Giannis etc. DDV does nothing to solve this.
You know how you break the wall teams are building to stop Giannis? Firstly with playmaking and secondarily with good shooting. You need to make the players that try to setup the wall uncertain on where/how to set it up, so you need to move the ball and win some 1v1s.

In my opinion, the Bogdan trade would have made the Bucks much much better in this aspect and much better overall.
None of the other options discussed (Harris/DDV etc) offer the same in this aspect.

2) There is a certain point when mistakes that are repeated and amateurish in nature need to stop. When people keep trying to minimize problematic situations, the result is what you get with the Bogdan situation right now.

Just listened to the Simmons pod and if I'm connecting dots leads me to believe the Bucks leaked this before it was fully cooked and I have to wonder if they did because they were getting clowned about that package they gave up for Holliday.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

So they wanted to create a distraction...by getting clowned from yet another eff up? Only makes them a bigger clown show.

I dont think nba front offices operate with the emotional maturity of a 15 year old.
