So will Patric Young. What's that? He's not a PG? Yeah, neither is Smart.

But you don't have to add a significant amount of muscle to get stronger or stabilize yourself. David Robinson only played at around 240-250 and Hakeem only played at around 250-260. This kid is already 250 pounds... he doesn't need to look like Dwight Howard to be a super effective player, that isn't his game at all and it wouldn't fit him. He should stay lean and athletic, he just needs to get stronger.

You basically just agreed with me haha. His base=his legs. They are skinny and weak right now which leads to him being easily pushed around. His core obviously needs work like we both said. I just think to do those things he'll end up adding 20 pounds.

I wouldn't compare him to Robinson or Hakeem athletically, he's got a very different body type. DRob was so naturally strong from the navy work he's not even comparable to embiid in that regard. Robinson was walking on his hands across the court while embiid has the stereotypical African big man frame and body. Very fluid, but not strong. Hakeem wasn't as tall as embiid and had much better legs. Obviously he was older though. That will be a big thing for Joel to improve upon. Right now he's falling all over the place when he posts up because his base is weak, guys push back and he loses balance, same if they pull the chair out from under him.

I'd also be surprised if he weighed at 250, he doesn't look it and is definitely thin. I think he'll add weight over time but functional strength will be very important.

Personally, I don't want us to draft embiid even if his back checks out. Even the best doctors are wrong about back injuries routinely and I don't view embiid as a superior prospect even if 100% healthy.

I think youre right on Matt. He's a year older than the other top guys, has a propensity of already wearing down against vastly inferior physically imposing players, and came out of no where to become a prospect. He screams bust to me when I see him and when I learn about him. As a person who diagnoses and treats injuries professionally back injuries not muscle related are HUGE red flags.

I'd think about Randle at 4 for sure.

Randle could come in and put up 18/12 as a rookie.

Embiid is scaring the crap out of me.

Yeah the more I learn the more I want nothing to do with Embiid. Randle is going to be an auto 18/9 career guy multiple All Star with a great attitude. Theres also a possibility he moves ahead of Wiggins on my personal board. I dont see any drive in Wiggins.

I think Randle is David Lee.

If there was a prospect at or near Embiid's level, the back issue might be a factor that makes you pass on him. Parker, Wiggins, Randle, etc. aren't good enough.

2. Parker - Safest pick, dynamic scorer

3. Exum - Would be a great fit on our team, but question if he would leave town for a big market first opportunity he had

4. Embiid - Would be number 1 without the back concerns, we can't afford to waste this pick on an injury riddled player

I would think if anyone would leave for a big town team of those four, it would be Wiggins wanting to go to Toronto.

Agree there he has stated more than once how he would love to play for his home town team

The rest of the quote is missing. They want to trade them for a "star".

I'd be interested in knowing what those of you who love Randle thought of Thomas Robinson.

Awesome, according to our former owner we have a "star" at PF.

Randle will probably put up raw stats. That doesn't mean anything in regards to whether we should take him though. I have major doubts about him fitting well into a team offense, especially with his lack of length, and don't get me started on his d. He'd be an extreme disappointment at #4 in this draft.

I dont think the two are comparable. Randle is a frosh versus a junior and there were quite a few people who saw Robinson as merely a pick and pop player.

Lee's ambidexterity is also one of his greatest strengths.

They're comparable in that they both play an obsolete position and have no range, I'm not arguing they butter their bread in precisely the same way. Randle's offensive game certainly has more polish, where as Robinson projected as a much better defender.

Twenty years ago, Randle's a fantastic prospect. But if the best things people can say about him are comparisons with David Lee or Zach Randolph, that holds substantially less value than it used to.

EDIT: Robinson shot only seventeen jumpers as a sophomore. Randle didn't even have a shot outside of the paint through a not-insignificant part of this season.

Power forward is not an obsolete position, especially on any team without LeBron James.
