I wouldn’t be so sure it’s not COVID related with testing just now becoming more common.

Well, at least it sounds like Rudy only infected one other player. They tested all of them and the only positive test was Mitchell's.

Have the sages at the big 10 cancelled the tourney yet?

The NBA knows that if they remove the suspension a lot of players and staff will refuse to play anyway because of fear of the health of themselves and their families even with empty arenas .

It happened to my team Olympiakos.

They had a game with Armani Milano in Italy this Friday without fans. Obviously my team asked to postpone the game due to the crisis in this country.
Euroleague refused to do so. Half the players of Olympiakos immediately said that they won't travel there to play anyway.
Olympiakos made a second effort to postpone the game and Euroleague gave up and moved the game in Berlin, Germany.
Eventually Euroleague suspended the season today because players around the world started testing positive to the virus and more complaints started gathering.

Good news with Mitchell and gobert testing positive is that their symptoms weren’t bad. They could have even played an nba game. Bad how easily transmissible it is, good that it seems the common flu makes “healthy” people more sick

I don't think most people's concerns lie within what it will do to them, but what it will do to at risk groups.

And while I barely even worry about the regular old flu in a "not at risk" demographic and the .01% chance of complications it poses to my demographic...the odds of this or just a completely random event taking me to the ER where I cannot be treated due to overflow make my chances of death in the next few weeks substantially higher.

There's still way too many people who aren't comprehending the magnitude of this general Covid issue. I've lost count of how many times I've heard that everyone is "overreacting"

He's a grown ass man, not some teenager. Being young relative to the at-risk population doesn't excuse his idiocy and nonchalant-ness anymore than it excuses Kyrie Irving for thinking the world is flat because he's "only" in his mid-20s.

I work for MCW/FMLH (not at the main complex) and we are not hearing anything much. The normal. Currently, I'm pretty isolated where I work (Isolated by cubicle walls and not much contact with folk). I am expecting that soon, those of us who can work remote, will.

This misses the forest for the trees. We have things available to us to curve the flu, like the flu shot. That does not yet exist for COVID-19. Increase the volume of cases, increase the number of deaths. Increase the stress on the public health system. Increase the number of deaths.

Italy is literally in crisis mode right now because their healthcare cannot handle the load their experiencing. 12,000+ confirmed cases, 800+ deaths. That's scary.

In general, those that are sitting around like, "What happened to the Swine flu? What happened to SARs?" incredulous that something worse couldn't possibly come along, are the problem. It's that type of attitude that leads to problems growing exponentially larger to the point where it's just far too late for containment.

I appreciate the (mostly) civil conversation on this. For those who can't be civil or can't/won't grasp how important this is, go somewhere else. I don't have time to babysit.

As a person who is in the high risk category I pretty much take all the precautions just for the regular flu. This is pretty serious stuff and I pray for all involved included patients and medical staffs. Its not the 1st time or the last time we will see this. Need to plow through this and not panic and do all the things that need to be done. May God help us all.

Yup, maintain being civil right md? For Christ sakes. I said it’s good that this.....but bad that this.....go hide in your house, lose your job, and I’ll tell you when it’s ok to come out.

I’m sure I’m too relaxed, but some are way to fearful. But making fun of those that don’t share your same opinion isn’t the way to go

There's a balance between hoarding toilet paper and thinking the flu is worse than this. I think most in this thread are simply being pragmatic.
