Bud is off the books after this season. They are already fine paying three coaches at once so why wouldn’t they fire Doc or whoever if they don’t win a ring this season? Haslem seems willing to spend.

Doc isn't leaving his media job to just audition the rest of the year for a job, signing Doc Rivers means signing him to a multiyear deal.

They can sign Doc for three years for all I care as long as they are still willing to fire him if he is the reason they don’t win a title. Not my money.

I felt like they were pinching pennies hiring Griffin to begin with, should have backed the money truck up to Nurse. They're definitely not going to hire Doc Rivers just to coach half a season, its a guaranteed multiyear deal no question.

Bro, if we fired another coach without having a replacement plan....

Still can't believe we passed on Nurse

Not really, Philly looks good but they looked just as good last season.

I would take Nurse over Doc, I am not arguing that.

But after Philly got off to a shaky start last season, they went on something like a 40-10 run between December until April. I don't remember the exact record, I just remember complaining about Philly gaining us when we were fighting for the #1 seed last season and pointing out in early April that the Sixers had only lost like 12 games since early December.

Plus the Sixers were up 3-2 on Boston in the playoffs. Doc don't get a complete pass, but you can entirely blame Doc on Embiid & Harden doing what they always do in the big moments, choke.

Swap Embiid with Giannis on the Sixers last season and there is a 100% chance that Sixers beat Boston and a 90% chance that they go the NBA Finals and maybe even win it with Doc.

I've always thought Doc is a better coach than people give him credit for.

Made the comment in the PG thread about how Brook clearly looked towards the sideline last night and yelled "What the **** was that!? after a bad possession. I think we now know who that was directed at....

Some guys are just not cut out for the head job. I wouldn't be excited for Doc, but I'm at least confident he can get the players' attention.

Not really a Bucks fan but D'antoni would be my top choice for this team. I know he never has won a ring but I still think he would be a top 10 coach if he was in the league and for sure I would rank him higher than Doc Rivers

So weird how having a bad coach in charge can zap all interest in watching or discussing. Probably watched 90% of games last season. This year maybe 25%.

Meanwhile there were reports Giannis preferred Grief to Nurse, so not sure that can be attributed to pinching pennies and if it was they would have just rode out the season with Grief. As soon as they start paying a third head coach, pinching pennies arguments are out the door.

Assuming there is a deal already with a coach that is under contract with some other team (Atkinson) it makes sense to use some smoke with a FA coach (Rivers) to save face.

A man has to hope.

Mentioned it in the Griff/Doc poll thread, but unless you roll with Prunty for the rest of the year, if you have to fire the coach again, you're going to be drawing from a tepid candidate pool next time around. Lot of pressure to get it right.

Giannis screwed us out of a legit coach. Actually two. Bud and Nurse

What choice does Doc Rivers have at this point? He could see this as an opportunity for redemption and a way to earn another long term coaching position with either the Bucks or someone else next year. This is a best case scenario for him to take a talented team like the Bucks deep into the playoffs.

For this season I totally agree.

That being said I am NOT excited about Doc overseeing the entire Giannis/Dame era in Milwaukee.

No way he (or anyone) takes the job without a long term deal right?
