Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
Made the mistake of reading a Reddit post detailing everything missing in 25 that was in 14. Man, now that I see the list it was very clear they had to make some tough decisions on what to cut in order to hit the deadline. I hope they are given an opportunity to keep implementing features.
I stand by my 8/10 ranking, but this cemented it there. A few minor improvements and it could easily be 9 or higher.
I’ve also had multiple instances where I back out of super sim mid game and nothing shows up, can’t do anything and have to restart and lose all progress. Just happened 3rd quarter vs Bama up 21-17

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I chose to build up Hawaii...as noted I'm probably going to get into year 2 and never have time for this again.
A few random bugs I noticed:
-Trying to recruit the local HI kids, their "proximity to home" grade is an F...which maybe they just set globally since basically everywhere else it is but then forgot to set Hawaii proximity to home as an A.
-In about game 10, I got into a state where my QB, one WR, and an OL or two all had plain white helmets while everybody else had the regular one.
In terms of recruiting being a little too easy. I kind of agree that it is(are there sliders for it? I haven't really checked), but I think that the essence of the NCAA games is a bit more of a fantasy based on the more wide open elements of the game vs. Madden/pro sports. It would be near impossible to actually build a mid-major or Vanderbilt to a perennial title contender in like 2 or 3 years. But that's what we play the game for.
Also, All-American/Heisman modes are tough as hell, but in general, similar to the last paragraph - there are a lot more WRs running wide open and QBs slicing through an entire defense on a zone read or whatever...I think the recruiting and somewhat unrealistic offensive openness is a feature, not a bug. Probably is the case if one opens up on Heisman level, but it would be a painful process playing for 6 years of a dynasty with Hawaii or Syracuse to finally get a few WRs that can beat SEC corners routinely or whatever.

Yeah, I think that’s a pretty fair argument for recruiting being the way it is. I know there’s a glitch right now where some 4/5 stars just don’t get recruited so you can swoop in and get them even at a bad school; I’m staying away from that personally. Mostly limiting myself to recruiting pipeline guys unless someone outside the pipelines are very interested initially.

Playing this game in broadcast mode is wild, but it looks incredible.
Game finally unlocked for me tonight - I'm hoping I'll have a few hours to spare this weekend.

Glad you are having fun.
Playing in broadcast visual mode is ridiculous, if you can’t see the corners and safeties you can’t know what the defensive shell is and its all guesswork.

Other ARPGs are like "PoE, we're coming for you" and PoE just saying "bitch you ain't even close"

The skill gap between heisman and AA is insane. AA is often much to easy, Heisman is a real challenge. Defense, is difficult to maintain at any level. Starting to show more disguised looks, but have to be careful with that option. Showing cover 0 for example can really hurt you if your guys cant get back to position quick enough.
Loving this game, I've already sunk more hours into this than I did madden last year. Fully expected, not that hard but football is fun again. Really enjoy how it feels the left stick matters again.

Funny you say that, due to the Microsoft outage I just played a game on AA in my dynasty. 82 overall team vs Maryland 82. Won 75-49 and my QB had 616 yards 5 TDs. Switched it to Heisman right after and will report back

Team Builder requires you to play an online franchise for some reason. When you do that you can't create your own separate saves, even if you're the only person in the league. Everything gets autosaved and that's it. Extremely annoyed with how unnecessary this is.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I've read the scheduling in dynasty is messed up. Because of the missing protected rivals it causes matchups like Wisconsin/Minnesota, Texas/OU, Michigan/OSU to not be a yearly occurance. I've done some exhibition games and sim dynasties but until that's patched I can't start a real one so just biding my time until then. Honestly pretty big miss considering how big rivalries are in college football
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Yeah, I don’t really care about Teambuilder but I went online due to fear that patches and tuning updates might not impact offline saves and it’s definitely a bit annoying. Hopefully you haven’t run into issues where the dynasty servers are overloaded and kick you out. Had that happen once after I finished a game and it didn’t save the results so I had to simulate it or play again.
I will say the autosave has kinda helped make everything matter a little more. Deciding whether or not to accept a HC offer is much tougher since I don’t know what offers I might be missing out on the next week.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
For my NCAA friends who play with the Wisconsin playbook.. (tips from a varsity HS coach):
- Cover 2 is vulnerable to a field side (side with more space) “corner/streak route combination.” You want the first receiver down the field to occupy the safety on a streak and the second receiver to break to that corner (pile on). The S can’t cover both. The closer they start together proximity wise pre snap the better. If you get a cover two from the D, this becomes a one play touchdown (or 40 yard catch and run). A few plays have this combo, but you can also hot route to it out of most plays. Note: a defense won’t call Cover 2 vs trips, because it leaves a man uncovered at the pre snap look. So don’t expect a Cover 2 when in any trips. The most conventional way to exploit the cover 2 (the honey hole) doesn’t work in this game.
- “four verts” (a.k.a “all go”) is still the way to beat cover 3, but the spacing is wrong from some formations and the mechanics let one DB cover two deep WRs. You can make it work by putting a TE or RB on a wheel and the small delay that results from that upfield turn forces one of the deep 3 DBs to choose the first deep wr in their zone (opening up the second for an easy 20+)
- cover 2 man is good this year, remember this is a leveraged based coverage meant to take away inside breaking routes. Beat it by adjusting your best inside WR to anything out breaking: zig, out, wheel for the easy completion and yards after catch. If you can use another inside WR to occupy the deep safety, you can get one play TDs off a wheel route (anything outside breaking beats that inside leverage)
All in all the mechanics are semi realistic, but DBs have a bothersome burst if you have a step on them on streak routes, so you have to turn to some of these combos and leverage based concepts to win consistently

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
Played NCAA football for a total of probably 8 hours and already bored of it.
Classic EA in that there’s just stupid things and I don’t think the gameplay is great. Like why is my freshman RB being subbed in when he’s not even numbered on the depth chart?
Or during super sim, why does my QB never keep the ball during a run option?

Yeah this looks fantastic.
Almost looks like a blend of Age of Empires and POE.
Finally having a currency market made it a must play for me to be honest. To be able to complete trades in an automated fashion is going to be fantastic.

I don’t supersim so I can’t speak to that but I definitely have not had that issue with subs at all. My issues are mainly just bugs within the mode (for example, assigning the independents to a conference makes it so you can no longer edit the Sun Belt conference which makes my promotion relegation system not functional.
Or smaller things like coach hiring occurring earlier in the cycle than I want because I’d prefer to edit the conferences before coaches decide which jobs to value.
The sim engine is a bit wonky too but I reckon I’ve already put at least 50 hours into the game lol.

A lot of the initial shine has worn off for me. It's average. The gameplay is good not great, but the modes are barebones and missing a lot of features that add up for me.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I’m still enjoying it, but there are a handful of annoyances that seem unnecessary. Road to glory is littered with them. Mentioned the need for playing an online dynasty if doing Team Builder. Maybe I missed it but I would have liked just being able to model my stadium after something generic. Instead there are signs for Ball State all over Don and Nona Williams Stadium. Still don’t have a handle on recruiting.
But I’m enjoying the gameplay quite a bit, even if it seems wildly unbalanced.
Still, two big things are hanging over the game before the season starts: not being able to edit real players and not being able to export them to Madden. Just extremely hate that.

I spent maybe two hours total playing Friday and haven't touched it since. I do not enjoy the gameplay either but I'll try to play RTG more just to get my money's worth

Cool, glad I didn't impulse buy it to play for a day before leaving town. I'll see what people think when I'm done with the next POE league.
