Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
People get on Smart about his jumper because he's stagnated on it for 2 years at college. That and a jumper is more important when you don't have top end quickness.

I actually really like Smart. But with all prospects, they could go many ways. I could see him becoming a top 5-10 point guard in the league because he is a great defender, he can finish at the rim and he has the rare abiilty to be productive in the post for a guard. He is also very competitive and seems to play hard night in and night out. He's the type of guy that I think can really break down a defense.
But I could also see him ending up as more of a defensive specialist because he never develops a jump shot. He certainly doesn't seem like a Rondo type of guy who can get by without at least being decent in that area... I say this because I see him as more of a 'scoring point guard' as opposed to a distributor like Rondo is.

I really believe that once Embiid goes through the medical stuff and workouts, he's going to be the clear cut #1.
I'm really curious to know how bad the 76ers want Andrew Wiggins.
If we could swing something like #3, #10, and Nerlen Noels for #2, #31, and Larry Sanders, I would definitely consider it.
Dante Exum / Nate Wolters
James Young / Brandon Knight
Giannis / Delfino
Henson / Ersan
Noel / Zaza
That's a lineup with some length that I could get excited about going forward.

It is an interesting idea but I'd rather just take Wiggins. I don't like Exum since I've heard him speak and I think James Young is awful. I'd be beyond thrilled with:
PG: Knight/Wolters (need to find someone in the future)
SG: Wiggins
SF: Giannis
PF: Henson
C: Sanders
Get a few role model vets (not OJ Mayo types) that could teach this young squad how to be professional and the type of work ethic it takes to become great.

If Embiid goes #1, I would offer the Sixers something like #2 and Henson for #3, #10, and whatever garbage player they have to throw in to make that work. I think something like that isn't totally unrealistic if they really love Wiggins.

There is a good chance that Henson will be better than whoever we could get at 10. Sometimes we overvalue the potential of picks. If we could be getting Aaron Gordon then I'd do this but I doubt he falls to 10. It isn't a bad trade idea but I'd still rather have Wiggins then move back to 3.

I'm not trading the #2 pick (Wiggins) unless we get an absolute Haul from PHILLY. I'm talking #10, Noel, or a future unprotected #1 pick at a minimum, without giving up anything else.

Get used to it from him and everyone else at WSSP.
When discussing the #2 pick, it's either Wiggins or Parker. Be damned if you mention another name besides the two of which they speak!
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

agreed
i mentioned months back about trading back with Philly
I still think if they want Wiggins badly enough they can server us the #3/#10/Noel for #2/Henson

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
If they want Wiggins so badly, they are going to have to give up a lot more than they probably should in my opinion. #3, #10 and a prospect. That may be overpaying to move up one spot, but if I were GM and they coveted Wiggins that much, that is what I would stay firm on.

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
Id do that in a heartbeat!
#3 Jabari Parker
#10 Nik Stauskas or James Young
Lineup
PG: Knight/Wolters
SG Stauskas/Mayo
SF: Giannis/ Middleton
PF: Parker/ Henson/ Ersan
C: Noel/ Henson
Move forward with a big 3 of Giannas/Parker/Noel!

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
Yeah, because we should draft based on who the casual fan likes:
http://journaltimes.com/news/local/time ... e67d8.html
"Bucks GM Mike Dunleavy was in good spirits Thursday. Dunleavy was practically booed out of the Bradley Center Wednesday night after trading Marbury. At the start of the press conference, Dunleavy noted that Allen told him that he was heading to Las Vegas later in the day. "I have to question my background checks on him," quipped Dunleavy. Actually, Allen was bound for Vegas to participate in a benefit for the City of Hope Foundation."

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
As I said yesterday, you can make all sorts of good arguments for Jabari, but I'd like you to "show your work".
I have full faith and confidence that Wickett, Chuck, Woelfel, etc haven't watched many games of Wiggins and Embiid in any great detail.

The one argument Parker had going for him was his intangibles because he acts like a winner. He lost a lot of those intangible points when this happened...

I don't think Philly is dealing Noel in that package. They drafted him with all of the injury concerns for a reason, and it's because they're very high on him. I don't think they let another team reap the rewards of a healthy season by him.

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
Yeah, they aren't trading Noel to move up one spot. Really, it will be surprising if Philly makes a move up using 3/10. They are guaranteed Wiggins or Parker at their spot, and then a shooter like Stauskas coming back. They are set up to make a big jump next year between those two and Noel coming back.
You rarely see top 5 picks moved though.

LOL
He's also got a few more arguments going for him than his "intangibles."

Re: Ford Mock 6.0 #2 Embiid
I like Jabari, but if some of us (hint) need to drop a bucket of rain on guys like Chuck and Woelfel, I think it is fair game to ask them why Bill Walton had such a spotty career. His foot fractures. Then ask Chuck and Woelfel if they realize that Jabari has had two foot fractures in high school already.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1260 ... ri-on-heel
Jabari has an interesting body. It doesn't look as fluid as Wiggins, Big Dog or Carmelo's does and he seems prone to carrying too much weight. That will be a problem if your foot is fracturing already in high school. Foot fracture problems generally do not go away.
*I think the Jabari injury concern is a legit factor to consider (small factor). I only highlight it to the extreme above to counter the stuff coming out on WSSP along the lines of Embiid having an MRI showing no spinal column, etc.
