i understand your thinking and if it was tim Duncan in this situation then id agree. but chandler? no. if we were gonna max somebody short term like this id rather just stick with the centers weve got and go with wade.

The max? Umm, no.

Why not? It ends exactly when everyone's extensions will start kicking in. Who cares if it's max if next year it'll be like 2/3 of max?

Upon more reflection, though I am really personally unimpressed w Chandler, I am in support of: "Hey at least he's not 37!" So there's that.

Clear more cap, sign both Lopez brothers then have them do some dragonball fusing into one person. Boom. Perfect player.

Free Agency Thread - Tyson Chandler, pg 11

I don't claim to be an insider either, though I do have a contact very high up... I can confirm that Brook Lopez is NOT being considered. So everyone can put that to rest and focus on other guys. I agree with Paul that Tyson is our guy and from what I was told it matches up to what they're looking to do.

Seriously though, thanks for the nugget of information.

For me, it comes down to what role are they bringing him in to play?

I'd guess 25 minutes with ZaZa and Henson taking the rest...Seems like we could manage his minutes enough to make it work.

I think our targets (and dollars the market will force Milwaukee to pay) will be:

1) Robin Lopez : Will take 4/$56-60mm

2) Tyson Chandler : Will take 3/$44

We will get a courtesy phone call with Jordan, Kanter and Brook, but all three stay with their teams on five year deal w/Kanter getting four year RFA match. No chance for any of them.

In the case of Chandler, Cuban won't let him walk.

Prediction? Rolo a Buck a week from now.

LOL touché... I just never ask this person for info, but I was confused about draft night and especially the Vasquez trade cutting into our cap space so I inquired. I was specifically told NO on Lopez, not what they're looking for at this point. What I was told also makes me think we don't really consider Jordan an option either because it wouldn't fit the mold. Value, short-term deals at C, and a DEEP roster is what it boiled down to. Not even sure if Chandler fits that but the agent thing makes me think we have an inside track to him.

I really hope Zaza isn't in the plans, and if he is, why are we paying Chandler huge money to play 25 minutes or less?

Really, the only thing that makes sense is FA and Henson at C if we sign someone. Trade Pachulia or Plumlee and the other guy rides pine.

I still love the idea of signing Boban and OQuinn.

I'd still be all over the phone with OKC, there is a trade to be made there. I'd push for McGary and Jones even if it means taking on Novak who could help out in shooting drills. Also if OKC starts to balk at Kanter $ I'd offer them a sign and trade.

I wonder if the Tyson quote about being considered by Kidd is 1) actual excitement to come here or 2) a respectful tone to Kidd because he isn't.

Neither. A message to mister shark tank that he needs to be prepared to up his offer from the Mavs.

I don't feel the pressure to maximize the roster to the fullest 1-15, although I respect that's what we do here.

We can have our bottom four roster pine guys be developmental guys.....Vaughn, Ennis, Plumlee and Inglis. That's depth.

Zaza and Henson will still get minutes.

We will probably be contending for the playoffs every year until our next major rebuild. With that in mind I like the idea of stacking the roster full of good bench players and super young guys that can help carry you through the inevitable injuries that occur throughout the season. It really helps taking the pressure off returning from injuries and playing long minutes in the regular season. I think the goal should be to be 100% healthy in the playoffs, minus your OFS guys.

Plumlee isn't a developmental guy he turns 27 in Sept he's just a big body in case of injury.

They wanted LeBron also. They aren't getting Jordan. See no way he leaves a five year mega deal on the table from LAC.

I would love if our bottom four players were young unprovens. I would have preferred taking a flyer on Sean Dawson at 46 for this reason. Instead we've gone the route of Vasquez and it's clear we want veteran depth. I think what Luke proposes is the most sensible given what we're seeing from Buck land.

I'd be thrilled with Jordan. I'd also love Boban.
