If BKN gets Porter at the max, does that make it unlikely they desperately offer Jabari the max next off-season?

Wizards will match it. Some teams will have that much space next summer, even if it isn't the Nets. Max would be 25,7500,000.

Yeah, they will. Just would have be nice to worry about one less team offering Jabari the max next year.

Stop with this this nonsense.

How about this for nonsense - I'd let Jon Horst put his dick in my ass if we get Marcus Smart

Can only imagine what you'd do for Derrick Rose

Watching Brogdon and Banks lock some teams down would be pretty fun.

Celtics can have a second round pick or one of our bad contracts, if that could work somehow. I would give up literally nothing of value for him. We do not need another non-shooter, wtf you guys. His TS% is **** under .500.

Nowak is the only person that gets a pass here because I'm still not totally convinced that he is not in fact Marcus Smart himself.

I doubt he even gets them to a 6 game series with Cleveland. I guess I don't see the point of drafting a bunch of young forwards and signing Heyward.

Maybe they want to play a bunch of forwards and swingmen. No PF, no SG and not many minutes of C.
Kind of where the league is going anyway

For all the dumb **** this franchise does, giving up a pick for the right to pay one of the worst shooters in the NBA, would be right up there.

I wont give up a pick for Smart. I also wont pay him anything substantial. I will take Smart on the cheap if he's there. Can always use a guy off the bench who can defend. No delusions of grandeur with Smart. Yes we need shooters.

Patrick Patterson getting 3/16 this year compared to Mirza 3/30 last year hurts. Better and younger.

What hurts about Mirza's 3/30 is that the dude sucks badly. Other than that it was a good deal.

Shooting is overrated my friend. We don't need shooting, we just need guys who are um good at basketball. Delly, Telly, Henson, Beasly, Terry, Thon, Vaughn ...were bad last year.

Marcus Smart is a good basketball player.

RU talking about Porter? I could easily see him being a 20/9 guy.

Porter this year. Barnes last year. Both will be paid more than Giannis and roughly the same as Durant.

What specific skills does Smart have? I mean he rebounds pretty well for a guard . . .

He literally does nothing but defend. Which would be fine, if he didn't think he was a better offensive player than he is, which results in him being an even worse offensive player than he should be.

See, the good thing about Tony Allen is that he knows he shouldn't shoot, and he can actually manage to convert attempts at the rim, too.

Our bench blows. I agree. I am not about the give up anything of value for a guy who isn't going to move the needle for us, which is what Smart is. We need to use that value - picks or players - to acquire guys that can actually help us.

Me not being an NBA role player is one of the worst things about the nba atm.

well, Durant is taking less than market value. I would like to see Porter on GS in place of Durant - - I think he'd blow up.

I'm not saying that Porter is worth 26.5M per year; I just don't think he's a role player. He could be a #2 on an excellent team, imo.

Best defensive guard in the league - so that's something.

Plus offensively he isn't a complete zero because he can handle the ball and can make (simple) plays for others, averaged 4.7 ast per game in the playoffs and during the season. Also, I think his post game is coming along and in a year or two could be a weapon.

Still only 23.

This.

Defense is absolutely necessary. You just need shooting when you have a player like Giannis or you're hurting Giannis' effectiveness. Marcus Smart is nowhere near a good enough defender to compensate for his lack of offensive ability. I would've much rather had Rubio.
