Only guy id be moderately interested in is Covington for his defense but he’s kinda ass on offense and we don’t have the salary to match

Would a rebuilding Blazers be into Donte?

If he isn’t coming back soon — and / or if it’s gonna take him some time to play his way back into game shape — then a tanking team might value him more than a win now team.

Having to pony up big bucks to extend Donte wouldn’t be ideal for a recently blown up roster. However if Portland is hoping for a one year turn around maybe.

If they are blowing it up, they want picks or young studs, Donte is about to turn 25.

If they didn't blow it up Donte would compliment Lillard

Good for Shaq, he looks like he could play right now. He's a monster.

If it costs them Simmons/Maxey and picks then I wouldn't be too worried especially if Dame continues to play this poorly.

DeRozan into the Covid protocols. Not liking how these tweets keep rolling in every couple days.

Based on Wilt Chamberlain in Conan, I think the weapon of choice for a 7-footer is a weird Morningstar-like thing.

so what's McCollum thinking when he hears Lillard wants Simmons on his team?

I don't know how much credence to place into the 'Lillard wants Simmons' story given the extent to which Shams has acted as a shameless mouthpiece for Rich Paul throughout this whole saga.

Sam Amick also has a byline on it though and idk if he's offered up his credibility in a similar way.

Portland hasn't been able to get over the playoff hump. Does Dame really think adding a choke-artist too afraid to shoot when it counts is the move?

If the cost ends up being McCollum and a few mediocre picks, maybe, but if the Blazers would still have to trade most of their draft capital I get where they've held back -- especially if they fear a Lillard trade is inevitable in the next few years.

Lillard intends to give the Trail Blazers organization time to find its next leader of basketball operations. But beyond the front office component, the face of the franchise still wants significant changes to the roster. Multiple sources have told The Athletic that Lillard would like to play with Philadelphia 76ers three-time All-Star Ben Simmons. The Trail Blazers’ league-worst defense would instantly improve, and sharing a backcourt with a non-shooter could work given Lillard’s high-volume usage.

Sources say the Trail Blazers, under Olshey, discussed the framework of a trade for Simmons, moving CJ McCollum, a first-round draft pick and a young player such as Nassir Little or Anfernee Simons to Philadelphia. The 76ers, sources said, at one point asked the Trail Blazers for McCollum and multiple draft picks and multiple draft swaps, which Portland rejected. Olshey maintained significant confidence in the roster he constructed. Now, it’s unclear if there’s a deal to be had with the 76ers. But with Olshey out, who among chair Jody Allen, vice chair Bert Kolde and Cronin would be the one making the call on a Simmons trade or any acquisition designed to alleviate Lillard’s concerns?

Chimed in on the main board about this but it bears repeating that both teams (Portland and Philly) would be foolish not to get a McCollum for Simmons deal done at this point. Lillard is one of the few superstars that fit pretty seamlessly with Simmons' strengths/weaknesses. It allows them a big defensive upgrade if they can finally just commit to Nurkic being a part-time player and go to a full switching scheme.

Morey just needs to accept reality and stop watching Embiid destroy his body just so the Sixers can claw their way to a .500 season. McCollum gives them both a win-now upgrade and more importantly, a $30 million salary locked up with whatever picks they get from Portland, to be able to make a pivot move in the next 2-3 years. But for all we know, Morey is still delusional in thinking that he can get one of Dame or Beal this season (he won't)...

Right? Even with his lackluster conditioning he's the most physically dominant player I've ever watched. Like in his prime it just didn't seem fair. LeBron is second on that list.

Still think Simmons is a perfect fit in MIN, they should be offering PHI a package of Beverly + Beasley + Bolmaro + picks.
