I dont know if there is anything real behind this but Marcus Smart just doesn't feel like a Buck to me. He's got that dark energy to him. There's probably a Marvel analogy here but i wont make it because i'm not 14 and have no idea what goes on in comic books.

Would New York do Quickley for Beasley straight up after that performance? We should at least make the call.

If Horst can sell them on Portis/Champ and a high 2nd for IQ/Hartenstein...

Not likely.

Am I missing something on PJs contract? He has a PO next year for around 11 million, don't see why any team would cut him this year.

They buy him out for 18, and save four million, and he thinks he can make up the difference.

That's what might happen..

Yea unfortunately Portis seems a bad fit there due to having Randle already and Thibs would likely despise Portis on D. He's our best trade piece so that makes it a tough trade, but 3 team trades happen all the time.

Yea as a side note, when you already had quickley off the bench and needing to get paid it their FA signings didn't make any sense to me.

Hartenstein/any of their guards would be amazing.

Tier 1 - Superstars

Dame and Giannis both untouchable

Tier 2 - Aging stars

Midds and Brook both hard to trade since they have more value to Bucks than anyone

Tier 3 - Culture guys

Pat and Bobby both hard to trade since they also have more value to Bucks than anyone

Tier 4 - Playoff vets

Payne/Beasley/Crowder round up so nicely that Top 9, none can be considered as throw in

Tier 5 - Young prospects

MarJon/AJJ/Green/Livingston are all nice projects to have to crack into the playoff Top 9

Tier 6 - Cool brothers

Thanasis and RoLo are fun and OK with their non basketball roles in the 14th and 15th spot

I know Horst will be active in the deadline trying to pull a trade out of his ass, but at this point it's hard even giving up ONE player to avoid getting over the 2nd tax apron. Bucks will need to clear at least 800K at some point to make this work. That's a no brainer and I guess whoever gets injured will be the odd man out.

That said I'm not expecting anything fancy this deadline. It will be another story next offseason when Bucks will have access to (currently) #28 and #35, 2031 FRP with Lopez (23 mil expiring), Pat and Bobby (22 mil combined) becoming more friendly contracts to trade at the time.

Problem is that he wants a big contract next year and will probably get it.

I think there’s maybe a path to getting Tari Eason and Jonathon Isaac for Bobby and Pat.

Bucks
Eason
Isaac

Magic
Patty
Jock

Rockets
Bobby

Not sure what tiny filler/pick consideration (if any) would be needed.

Question is trading 2 good vibes vets who’ve been there for the chip for 1 young, unproven guy and 1 distinctly bad vibes guy, albeit ultra talented if he recommitted to ball. Tough call for us, I think.

Orlando and New York are the teams that seem ripe for an offense for defense swap. Portland and Brooklyn have some players too but doubtful they want bobby.

Bless Beasley’s heart he’s trying but are the Bucks really gonna go with a defense-free backcourt?

Ideally MarJon or AJJ will develop (a Griffin specialty in theory) and maybe we wait to see what happens there until the deadline at least.

If Crowder comes back looking like he did earlier this season that’ll have an impact on how we value guys down the line too.

Orlando has a ton of youth, Bucks have an excess of respected vets. Working relationship between the front offices. Easy to see them as trade partners.

I can't think of two dudes I want on this team less than Marcus Smart and Jonathan Isaac. Harden and Kyrie, I guess?

Bobby was a buy-low guy, too.

I'd have plenty of reservations about Isaac, but you can't ignore what he could bring, either.

Isaac would be a phenomenal fit for us defensively, but he’d be a massive risk.

My biggest concern is his will to even be on the court. Then there’s the injuries and off-court stuff - it’s a tough sell.

If he fully bought in though, what he could add to this team would be a dream. High risk, high reward.

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G Marcus Smart

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F/C Bobby Portis, G/F Pat Connaughton, MarJon Beauchamp, 2024 second-round pick (via Portland Trail Blazers)

Yay or nay

That's a pretty easy yes to me. We would absolutely need another big from somewhere though.

Problem is that he is a poor 3 point shooter so now spacing becomes an issue again.
