The fact that Hammond and Drew are still around and might not be retained is kind of odd but I understand why they didn't can the entire FO a month before the draft. One has to keep in perspective that Hammond didn't really run the team under Kohl so it wouldn't make a lot of sense that he would now, in the end ownership always make the call.

I also don't think it would be incredibly wise to present the franchise as unstable leading up to the draft either. Not sure it's going to be super appealing to agents and players if the entire front office gets axed three or four weeks before they pick your client/you as a player.

George Karl did that job when he was here. Then Larry Harris to some extent did it as well. Once both of them were out, we were left with Hammond, who was awful. (and Skiles who scowled)

Just look at what these two guys have done in 24 hours for the core Bucks fan base? Amazing stuff by just reaching out with a sane message of how to run a team.

This is the biggest thing I noticed at the event as well. If the former regime were still in charge, there would have maybe been a couple Bucks cardboard cutouts, a few ticket reps hanging around the bar, a boom-box with Herb's "90's Jock Jams" mix tape on repeat, and generally lacking excitement.

Instead, they plastered Bucks banners all over the bar, brought in a DJ and sound booth, packed the patio area on a beautiful summer day, and fully utilized social media to get the word out. The TV crews at last night's event alone accounted for more good publicity than anything the former regime had done all year before the sale.

You can tell that Marc and Wes really wanted to project an air of "something new and fresh", and get people excited about the draft and the future of the franchise in general. Hell of a change from what we're all used to.

Ended up going last minute straight from work (didn't even wear Bucks gear.... :noway: ), met a few friends there, ended up getting randomly interviewed by some dude from WISN.

Not sure if I made the news or not.

Nope. Didn't print that out. I knew I'd only have a few moments with each of them and the uniform designs were just not the most important thing I wanted to talk to them about.

Also, I'm not sold on any of the designs. The retro style looks just too retro even though I love em. And the futuristic ones look a bit off too.
Oh, so just because yooouuuu don't like them....

Things are starting to go to your head now. :D

I don't need to come on here and share things.

7 likes for a comment suggesting I'm gay certainly doesn't make me feel welcome or appreciated.

Just sayin.

When Kohl and Grunfeld "agreed to part ways" Kohl didn't make it official until after the draft even though the decision had made made well before that. Harris ran that draft (T.J. Ford) that year and then was named GM.

In all fairness, he's the one putting himself out there to ownership. I'd have to be overly passionate about 1-2 logo options before showing them too.

And who knows if/when you'll ever get another opportunity to interact with the team's owners. You have to prioritize what you discuss.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

COme on man, everyone loves you. There's never been a remotely serious post with the reporter guy in it.

Not sure that's the formula the new guys should be following. ;)

Couple thoughts:

Found out randomly that a Realgm poster used to bang my current gf. And I couldn't be happier!

Spoke to Larsy for a good 5-10 mins. He was extremely candid. There is absolutely zero chance an arena deal doesn't get done. He was absolutely GIDDY about the sale of the Clippers. He was pretty much bragging on how much of a steal of a deal he got on the Bucks. No way he is letting the NBA take the team back.

"We didn't pay 500 million not to make this draft pick" I absolutely believe that Hammond doesn't have the final say on the pick. Makes a lot of sense as if they brought in a new guy, he would want to be the one making the pick.

The next part I'm not sure how much I believe. Larsy flat out said he loves Parker. Really adamant about him. Wants a guy who can help the team the next 3-4 years and be a 20 point scorer. It's funny... me and another poster heard the exact convo and I came away convinced Larsy was telling the truth while Geoff thought it was a clear smoke screen.

Spoke to Ron Walter... He really likes Wiggins if Embiid is gone... Wiggins now free falling on my big board as a result.

FWIW...spoke to a close family friend of Eddens for like 15 mins...and he absolutely loves Wiggins and doesn't like Parker at all. No smoke screen from this guy.... Not sure this guy would have such a different opinion if his buddy Eddens didn't feel the same way. Also I gave him a flow chart I made on how terrible Hambone is. He folded it and put it his pocket and promised he would deliver it to the owners... That was pretty cool.

Spoke to Eddens wife for a while. Said the current color scheme isn't changing. Looking for a house in Waukesha. Edden gave me the stink eye from across the room as I was talking to her.

All in all a fantastic night.

I'm guessing they probably won't change the colors or logo until they are in a new arena.

Agreed but it makes sense in some ways. Kohl didn't want Grunfeld going to another team with knowledge of what the Bucks were thinking regarding the draft and I'm sure L&E don't want Hammond to do that either. Keep him around another 3 weeks then give him the boot.
