Don't see why people need to give a full detailed novel on why they believe one or two players are more talented then Giannis. "Hype" certainly plays into Giannis being higher on peoples boards as well. "What would he have done in college!?!! What would he have done in a different role!?!!". He very well have could have "floundered" to the same extent Wiggins and Parker did in college, or possibly even lower. We don't know. Nobody does. We do know in the role he was played in he certainly had a less then stellar rookie season overall, though flashes were there obviously. It's all projections and hype with Giannis just like with Parker and Wiggins.
I get this is in response to a thread but I'd like to comment on it...
If you are comparing one guy that didn't go to college but is the same age as these two guys that went to college, in a thread about comparing their relative value...we have debated the translation of the college guys skill sets to the NBA for countless pages, why not translate the NBA guy that didn't play college to speculate, in order to compare value of players?
I do agree, it is all projections with Giannis, but the difference is that we have seen "flashes" of his skills, almost everyone of his skills he demonstrated in grainy high school gyms against toddlers has translated into the NBA against starting 5 quality players. They were certainly flashes and not consistent, but it can't be debated, he has demonstrated those skills in the NBA, while obviously neither Parker or Wiggins have had the opportunity to do so.
I just don't see how either player projects to be better than what Giannis has shown...Now, he may never get consistent, and may in 5 years just be a guy that shows flashes, but I wouldn't bet against him. Parker will likely be a better scorer. Wiggins may be a better defender. But I think Giannis ends up being the better overall player of the three.
That said, I can't wait to pair one of them with Giannis!
