Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
I thought the chicken was good and the sauce had good flavor and wasn't overpowering. I also liked the potato bun. Now that I think of it, that might be where the sweetness was coming from.buckboy wrote:I must've gotten a bad one. I threw half of it out..
Although I despise sweet pickles. Don't understand them at all. And I didn't realize they were sweet when I ordered the sandwich.
I tried the McDonald's one like a month ago and could barely eat it cuz the pickles were gross and the hot sauce absolutely destroyed it.
Fast food spicy chicken sandwiches are a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Definitely better than the McDonald's one. BK was just too sweet for me which is probably a me problem.

I’ve had the Culver’s spicy chicken sandwich and it’s always been very good.

Really enjoyed Culver's spicy chicken sammy. For me it's Popeye's, Culvers and the Chick-Fil-A's.

Culver's chicken sucks.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
I don't have access to a Popeyes or Chick Fil'A up here, but my highly scientific ranking of sandwiches would be;
1 - Hardees/Carl Jr.'s Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich
Big, excellent crust, available normal, between waffles, or between a biscuit
2 - KFC Chicken Sandwich
If you like KFC, you'll like this.
3 - Burger King Spicy Ch'King
Best of the spicy options
4 - BK Ch'King Sandwich Deluxe, Normal
Okay but not as good without the spice
5 - Culver's Chicken Sandwich
It's fine.
6 - McDonalds McChicken
The original McD's chicken sandwich, I prefer it without their soggy lettuce. Fine and cheap.
7 - McDonalds Crispy Chicken Deluxe
It's big (maybe too big) and fairly juicy, but flavorless and quickly soggy
8 - Getting hit by a truck
9 - McDonald's Spicy Crispy Chicken
One bite is all I could handle. Way too spicy.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
They're all good. It appears RS is a beta and cannot handle spice.
McD's has surely amped up their spice.
I actually think BK's newer ones are arguably the best. BK's spicy is tied at #1 with Popeye's, then McD's/CFA tier. I haven't had Wendy's for a long time, tbh, but that used to be the gold standard prior to this revolution. Will need to try Culver's.
Sweet pickles on BK's? It's been a few months since I've had it (I still think it's the "new" one) but I don't think they were sweet pickles. If they've changed to sweet pickles then it is going to the bottom of my list.
EDIT: They have changed it? Well then **** that. I'll maybe try it at some point but to the bottom it goes for now if they truly are going with sweet pickles. The one they unleashed 2-3 years ago or whatever was fantastic and now they are trying to make it even more artisan?

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
They were definitely sweet pickles on the one I had recently.
I've tried in recent years to go back and try foods that I despised when I was younger. Few successes, and many failures. Sweet pickles are amongst the failures.

I don't think there is a single menu item from Hardees/Carl Jr.'s that is edible. It was one of 2 accessible fast food joints in my college town and it's by far my least favorite.

They do pretty alright by chicken. I think their hand breaded tenders are good. But otherwise I mostly agree. The only other thing I would get there is their loaded omelette biscuit, but the consistency there is non-existent. It could taste excellent, or be completely inedible.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is still King.
New BK sandwich is decent, I'd say on par with Chik Fil A.
I'd wait 20-30 mins in drive thru for Popeyes, I would not do that for the others. Popeyes just hits differently.

In that specific town, yes lol. But even overall if you include the whole lot nationwide. Carl's Jr/Hardees is the bottom of the list.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
I don't do Hardee's often as there aren't a ton near me, though one we just realized somewhat close...but I'd say the issue is that their options are too caloric for my liking.
I think the food is good/fine when I go and I generally respect the idea of these places going highly caloric because if you're going out, go big...you can make a healthy meal at home...but 90% of the menu for me is, "wow, that looks good but I will put on 5 lbs."
The breakfast is good/fine and generally what I will get. Our kids love hash browns in the morning if we're driving around for whatever reason and they are great in the rounds category but I've noticed along with the theme of everything else, there is a puddle of oil at the bottom of the container, generally.
I generally will just go with some breaded chicken tenders if I do end up there for lunch. Curly fries are also great.

Popeyes is the king. I tried McDonald's new chicken sandwich not that long ago, and it just didn't compare.
Chick Fil A is a close second, but I'd never choose them over Popeyes.

Yeah, if you don't like sweet at all I can see why the bk sandwich doesn't do it for you. At least we are on the same page with the McDonald's onebuckboy wrote:They were definitely sweet pickles on the one I had recently.
