I agree, but we'd also need to embrace this as a team. Chicken/egg here, but not convinced it was just an issue of not having this type of facilitator; I think we also have not been open to this type of facilitation.

ETA: there's a line in there somewhere demarcating where I'd rather just get a pick and take like Sensabaugh if all we're looking for is a bucket

I think I'd go...

As Players:

Simons > Poole > Quickley > Sexton > White

Cost to acquire (for a general team, not necessarily us as I think Poole's contract is just too big and long-term for us):

Quickley > Poole > Sexton > Simons > White

Agreed. Put me in the Monte Morris camp as the Wiz sell off parts during their rebuild. I believe he has one of the all-time AST:TO ratios while being a nearly 40% career 3-point shooter. It'll be a pleasure to see a PG not make 4-5 ridiculously dumb passes per game.

We literally don't have a guard on the roster who can both reliably:

1) Beat bigs clean off the dribble without a screen and
2) Throw a post entry pass

Those two things combined in one player would be revelatory for us offensively. If this guy could also shoot, defend, and handle the ball under pressure, he could start for us forever. If he can run PnR too, he'll be an all-star.

How much do we think T.J. McConnell helps our facilitation deficit?

In theory we could go for both Hield + McConnell (and picks of some kind) with Bobby + Connaughton + Grayson.

Idk if I do that though since we'd be so thin at the forward spots even aside from the loyalty factor with both Pat and Portis.

Seems more likely we'd target one or the other from the Pacers depending on the hole we're trying to fill. Also what picks we'd be getting in addition.

I try it with espn trade machine help. It's successful and maybe fair for every team.

BUCKS OUT: Jrue Holiday
BUCKS IN : A. Simmons/ D. Daniels/ Herb Jones/ A Pelicans first round pick

PELICANS OUT: D.Daniels/ Herb Jones/Valanciunas/Frp
PELICANS IN : J. Walker/ n3 draft (Scoot)/ Nurkic

BLAZERS OUT : N3 DRAFT/ A.Simmons/ J.Walker/Nurkic
BLAZERS IN : Jrue Holiday/ J.Valanciunas

BUCKS
We get younger, Simmons is our shot creator, Daniels is our facilitator, Herb Jones our wing defender.
Simmons- Middleton- Jones- Giannis- Lopez.
Daniels- Allen- Pat C- Bobby- Leonard.
Of course, other changes could be made.
I am not sure we get better, but we get also a frp. Bobby and frp could get us a very good player.

PELICANS
They get number 3 which they want desperately as it being reported. Furthermore, they keep their star players, Zion, Ingram, Cj.
Scoot- Cj- Ingram- Zion- Nurkic or Nance or Hayes
Alvarado- Kira Lewis- Murphy- Nance- Hayes.
Still, so much flexibility, they have many picks and they could even trade Zion for Hornet's n2 draft (Miller)

BLAZERS
Finally, they get the perfect fit for Dame. They get rid of Nurkic. They obtain a far better and healthier player (Val).
They can sign Jerami Grant too.
Jrue- Dame- Thybulle- Jerami Grant- Valanciunas
Keon Johnson- Sharpe- Reddish- Little- Eubanks and some other young players.

Maybe we should get another first round pick. We give the better player by far.

I love Jrue, but this feels a bit too optimistic. :)

If the Pelicans somehow do get Scoot, do they keep McCollum around?

He's 31 which isn't egregiously old but of course a different timeline.

Averaged 20 / 4 / 5 last year. Whatever his warts are he wouldn't head back to Portland since they've been there done that.

Not sure how much of a true PG or a defender he is but seems like New Orleans has been thrilled with how he's done there on net.

Wondering whether he might end up a target for us if he were to hit the market.

What if we take out the pick from Nop and maybe just get our swaps back in 24 and 26 and/or a couple future 2nds? I'd still do that deal and it feels more palatable for the Pels. I'd also swap Little for Walker on the original deal to slightly even things out a bit more, but otherwise I like this for everyone.

Pretty rough for the Blazers, I don't think Jrue can be the best player they get if they're dealing #3. New Orleans makes out like bandits -- they keep their best players and their best assets.

In my opinion, they can't get a better player than Jrue for #3 and Simmons. Even if am wrong, they can't get a better fit for Dame than Jrue.
If i am Blazers, i wouldn't do it, to be honest. I would prefer trading Dame for a haul, and rebuild with Simmons/Scoot/Sharpe and picks/young players. However, they are the ones saying that want to keep Dame and compete.
If so, i can't find a better player than Holiday for them. Siakam? OG? Zion is unreliable. Ingram? They have Grant, they don't need Ingram.
Of course, maybe i am wrong.

Keep in mind Sexton is locked in for 3 years on a reasonable 17ish mil contract too. That would be my target. Shouldn't be ridiculous cost to acquire and is cost controlled.

I kind of refuse to believe that Miller's going 2, so I don't think getting the Pels to 3 is what they're gonna want.

You must’ve forgot who Utahs GM is. There’s nothing reasonable about it unfortunately.

I would still focus on Quickley. Get the best pick(s) you can for Portis and/or Allen and send it to New York for him. I do not think they want to fork over 4/$90M+ for (with their roster) a 6th man. Knicks can draft someone like Wallace/Bufkin/NSJ, depending on how high Portis/Allen gets us, to have in that role on a rookie scale.

Well don't do a bad deal. But you gotta talk to him. Sure he might ultimately do the same thing he's done forever and demand way too much so you walk away. That's not hard.

The contract is reasonable though. Simons is 8-10ish mil per year for those three years. Some other guys are gonna be due extensions which are gonna be way more than 17 mil. Say quickley, he's cheap for one more year then (assuming he does well) you're gonna have to pay up

If Hornets choose Scoot, then a 3 way trade could be like this:
Bucks get Rozier/D.Daniels/Herb Jones
Hornets get Zion/Nance Jr
Pelicans get #2 (Scoot)/Jrue.

Rozier/Middleton/Jones/Giannis/Lopez
Daniels/Allen/Pat C/Bobby/Beauchamp/Leonard.

Tbh, i don't love it. Many people here would like Rozier in our team, i am not a big fan of him. Daniels and Jones are good young players though.
