Right. I just don't think it will be that hard to come up with a competent backup big. Keeping in mind that he won't have to play much in the playoffs as we likely use way more Giannis at 5 in playoffs. Definitely need someone though for regular season and probably one run per half in playoffs. There was that rumor a few weeks back on a Cha backup C, I'd guess that's an indication they've been doing their diligence on identifying someone to fill this whole you point out.

I hated both DDV for Ibaka + 2nds and Crowder for 5 SRPs trades from the beggining. Hiring Griffin was the third one, but who knows if Horst is to blame for that. But he has been OK.

Reminder DDV looked like a super injury plagued player who wanted so much money he had to take a prove it deal with GSW to get a contract. But in retrospect that deal sucked.

We discussed the Crowder deal in the last thread and fairly certain (someone correct me) the deal ended up more about offloading salary to make the deal and then it was like two seconds for Jae (again, pulling from memory).

I think we were pleasantly surprised at nabbing Dame for less than expected despite the board here fearing the worst.

Being scared to move on from complimentary guys like Bobby is one of the biggest reasons why we're in this mess in the first place, i.e. an aging roster with mis-matched pieces and poor fits around the two stars we've now invested in building the team around. All I know is that preaching the status quo just isn't an option anymore.

Hes done well.

Theres several weve gone mfin over the moon for and most were like ok ok thats aight i can be down.

I trust him. They dont all work out...they never all do.... but he hasnt took a swung ever that i can recall we were collectively like wtf.

Now...as an adjunct. Our trade proposals i want to add one more thing. Normally any one of our proposals falls into the category of.... "that sucks" ....or... thats "unrealistic".

It is really rare when one of us suggests a deal that the board is universally thinking....."great deal for us and all involved would agree".

So...we just dont know. But...in Horst i personally trust. Hes been generally pretty damn good.

Middleton needs to probably go. I think everybody finally realizes that. We need a trade we all unite behind. I think Horst going to find it and make it....or he wont trade him at all. And that now scares me worse remarkably. Hate his body is so effed up. But come on... its clear

You were the staunchest of Middleton supporters as of all of one week ago. I’m not trying to call you out.

Crazy how quickly things can change.

I am fine moving on from Bobby if it leads to an upgrade. Not trading him for nothing which is what some people seem to believe would help this team. If you are telling me we can trade Bobby for Naz Reid then great but not just as a throw in to unload what is a pretty good contract.

Bobby is a good contract for 4-5 more months. Not moving him because you'd only accept a much superior and younger player for him is exactly what I'm talking about. A lot of you guys hated the idea of Larry Nance Jr. but if he's healthy and the Hawks would throw some kind of draft asset or prospect our way as well, I'm doing that deal all day unless Bobby is needed for a bigger salary trade. Every move has risks, but nothing's more risky than complacency with a team that hasn't looked like a top tier contender in quite a while.

I still think Middleton/Bobby for Jimmy/Love would be a trade that work best work for us. Jimmy obviously an upgrade over Midds, and Love can at least give you some of what Bobby does.

I really feel like LaVine should be the guy. Landing him seems like we’re evolving rather than chasing Boston/New York. I really like the idea of forcing them to adjust to us and the style of play we could pull off.

What style is that, no defense? He's a lazy turnstile. All the physical ability in the world and won't guard anyone.
Guys like this put up numbers but always on a losing team. It's not a coincidence.

Khris is pretty much a turnstile at this point, too.

LaVine really isn’t a turnstile. He’s not a good defender, but he’s alright. Bradley Beal is a turnstile. LaVine’s defense is as underrated as Wiggins’ defense is overrated. One is just a far better offensive player.

I like the underlying logic, just think LaVine creates more problems with us than he fixes.

What kind of draft asset/s do we think we could get?

Jalen Johnson getting hurt could open a door.

And Atlanta sure seems like they’re letting Capela walk (if they don’t trade him first) after years of him being on the block, so maybe they’d want to extend Bobby to backup both spots.

Not sure you can have Lavine with Dame and Brook on the court. You probably need a more mobile center. And even with that I bet Doc would stagger his minutes opposite Dane.

My major worry with Lavine is we turn into a team who decides whose turn it is every time down the court.

Love will actually do what is required of his role in the playoffs - shoot only wide open threes, move the ball otherwise, rebound, and try to take charges to protect the rim. Bobby will want his post ups, take some awful midrange jumpers that he makes at a low percentage, force the Bucks to play zone to hide him on D, and maybe get ejected from a game.

Bobby is great for his regular season role of points off the bench and filling in when Giannis is out. But he’s not a great postseason player and he’s only on a good contract until this offseason when he’s opting out and getting paid.

If anyone wants to the Bucks locked into the second apron just to have another year of Midds rarely playing and Bobby on a brand new market rate deal, I don’t know what to tell them.
