I feel the same way, including the hoping to be proven wrong part. I have time at work to monitor these rumors so hoping to lack of productivity is somewhat worth it

A lot of posters are pointing out that we don’t have good assets to offer in trades. I’d counter that its also true that we have the two most difficult to acquire pieces to a contending roster (top 5 player, complimentary star) and we’re sort of shopping at a different store than most teams. It shouldn’t be this difficult to fill in good fits at roster slots 4-7.

This does give us 2.7 below the second apron and 1 roster spot.

That basically gives us 2 buyout spots. Rollins will take 1 and if we want another one we just waive Livingston.

A larger deal looms in the forefront for Milwaukee, however if none materialize there is strong mutual interest in this framework

I know exactly where you got this from ("Sean Wright" on Twitter). That guy is fake. Maybe it happens but this guy just throws guesses out there trying to get lucky.

Maybe but he was saying midds for kuzma 1 day b4 shams did

The rumors were already out there a bit. He piggybacks on that stuff and reports like he knows something when he doesn't. You'll have to trust me on this one :)

Could we have not just done Khris for Kuz straight up? Why the hell was AJJ even involved? What a wild waste of a first round pick. I thought we might be holding onto Baldwin.

Nope because Horst doesn't win at the margin. We had to take Baldwin bc Horst got fleeced.

Is that just to open up a roster spot? Or do we get anything back?

Because any team taking on Khris wanted some kind of sweetener to do so. That was his value around the league whether people want to admit it or not. You can debate whether we should've done it of course.

I thought Baldwin had to be included so the Wiz didn't go over their 1.25* more incoming salary max, in which case kicking rocks, would kick the trade. Washington doesn't want to do cuz they got one over on us.

Edit: guess it got resolved anyway.

Asked the same question yesterday in that why do people just assume a follow-up move is happening? This front office has proven that they have zero vision beyond what's immediately in front of them. They overpaid for their option C or D trade target (I'm convinced they just wanted any warm SF/PF body that could give them 30+ minutes) and got underneath the 2nd apron. Doc loves having a bunch of mis-matching bigs even if it makes zero sense from a roster balance standpoint. Very real possibility that we're done and Horst can mentally check out until the summer when Doc strong-arms him out of the organization.

Not exactly

We are 2.7 below the second apron
We will sign Rollins for something like 2M.

If we waive Livingston we still have to pay him (for several years). So unless we shed more salary AND trade more players put than we take back, we do not have room under the apron or on the roster for a buyout.

We sent Baldwin out with cash to San Antonio

We'll see if another domino ultimately drops, but this might have been done to create enough space to sign Rollins to a real contract while remaining below the apron. Not entirely sure.

Nope, everything right now is prorated and so is the cap hit. So signing 2 players would cost 1.4 million against the cap

Also Livingston is non guaranteed next year. Pretty clear he's not worth a roster spot.

You're going to have a hard time arguing that when Horst is notorious for overpaying and Middleton was traded to a team who wants to tank for Flagg instead of push for the playoffs, which Khris is more valuable for.

We'd project to give up less, i.e.: Tyler Smith & a 2nd, if anything, trading Khris to a team he actually helped instead of hurt.

Because what incentive does Washington have to take on a broken item?
