Do Parker versus Beasley or Derrick Williams next. Maybe top it off with a Embiid versus Meyers Leonard.

Marion was really, really good. If we got that then chances are we'd be very happy with the pick.

Lol, seriously. If he wants, I could show how Kyle Korver is better than Jabari Parker based on some shooting numbers.

I think it's more about being a full back point guard. Smart 's handle is pretty strong and he's a similar style of attacker.

I'm not totally sold on smart as an NBA point but I think he can get it done.

Yeah but you can't just compare two guys because of their build/size. Watching D-Will play, he was a blue-chip true point, who actually trumped Smart in every single way offensively. Literally every way, except maybe a tad in strength.

Just not comparable IMO.

Well I think on a simple level people are looking for Smart to be a point guard so they look for similar guys not necessarily similar production. Each guy is his own prospect so I don't get too caught up in it but it's not totally unfair to compare guys with similar builds and styles playing the same position. It's just all part of the discussion.

I think that's absolute ceiling. Don't place a high likelihood that Gordon becomes an all nba defender and double digit rebounder who can score 20 off hustle while being a decent 3 point shooter. And while I agree Marion was really good, still think he was 3rd best on title team kind of guy. That'd be disappointing with a top 5 selection in this draft for us.

If you took away Lee's post game that's what I see Gordon's offensive game as.

Totally dood.

Wiggins has extraordinarily underwhelming production for a wing player who people think may go #1. He's playing in an era where freshman routinely dominate.

I'm just saying those numbers don't really show anything besides proving that putting up good numbers in college doesn't mean you'll put up good numbers in the NBA. If you put Paul George next to Marvin and Wiggins, he might be the worst player based on college production.

And arguing that his production is "extraordinarily underwhelming" for a guy that might go #1 by comparing him to a guy that also almost went #1 is just dumb lol.

Comparisons can be (at best) moderately useful when they are actually good comparisons. Using players' build as the basis for your comparison is the way to talk yourself into a prospect you actually won't be getting. Just saying.

That's actually exactly what I think Gordon could become.

And I don't see any 1A franchise type players in this draft, so getting someone who could be a top 15-20ish player in their prime would be great in my opinion.

Potential is never involved when selecting number one, ever.

Well I don't think it's a bad comparison. Smart is a damn fine player and if he's capable of playing point in the nba, I think he has every chance to be as good as Williams. I'm not trying to talk myself into anything.. I want Wiggins and have watched smart a ton. If you don't like the comparison that's okay too.

I can't see any scenario where taking Gordon top 3 would be smart. Not based on his play this year or accounting for most potential. His own teammate might have more potential than him even.

I'm not even commenting on whether he is a fine player or not. Just saying he's nothing like D-Will. Agree to disagree on this one.

I'd say he's nothing like thabeet but not as good a passer as Williams but with the potential to be as effective playing the same position.

Potential is exceptionally important. It is also impacted by how a player performs when facing the superior competition in the NCAA compared to HS. Opinions on the NBA potential of players often changes dramatically once they start playing college ball, and for good reason.

And there's a reason why people who don't even necessarily like Wiggins like him a hell of a lot more then you, you've been out for him since day 1.

But yeah, Mo Harkless and Marvin Williams and all.

Wiggins was a consensus number one before the season started. A few mocks have him now two or three and we aren't even half way through the season. Ayts not the only one concerned about his production. Personally I don't think I've seen wiggins once bring the ball up to initiate a set. That alone is alarming for a player that is suppose to be a franchise changer. He's not a center. He's a wing player. He has to be able to initiate offenses once in awhile.
