That's good news. I'm a fan of both as 2nd rounders. Inglis has good size, athleticism, can shoot, and defend. Jokic is big, skilled, and unselfish. Those are good foundations for 2nd rounders.

But you wonder if the reason they changed their minds so quickly was because they got a late 1st rd assurance to prevent them from pulling out. The Spurs had been busy with other things until today. They seem very much their type of draftee.

They're used the the sense of a player that elevated his game in a larger role rather then just settling in like you're saying Kawhi would do, it has nothing to do with play style. Wasn't put on a different team but we can just look at Paul George then. He defers ball handling duties to George Hill and Lance Stephenson and is never really the main ball handler or distributor on the court for his team but he is their go to scorer and can make the right pass, something Kawhi has shown ability to do. You can look at probabilities for him to be those Wallace/Marion type role players but you also have to look where Kawhi is now compared to those players at similar stages. Kawhi certainly has more skills and ability to elevate into "the man" than those players did.

I guess knowing this all started with a Wiggins comp I shouldn't be too surprised you don't think he'll ever be more than a role player though. Even then Wiggins is certainly a much better player than Kawhi was at this age.

Call me crazy, but there's no way I'm trading Giannis for a top 3 pick. There's just too much to like about him, as a player and as a person. MKE needs him.

I'd be interested in seeing the result to that poll. I don't think I would do it either.

I love Giannis, but I couldn't pass up two of Embiid/Wiggins/Parker.

I'm assuming we'd draft Wiggins #2 and Parker #3.

But we'd never get Jabari Parker for him in a hypothetical trade to Philly for the 3rd pick. Philly wouldn't do it.

Jabari Parker would take Milwaukee by storm from a PR standpoint. Parker and Wiggins? The potential and star power of those two guys on the Bucks would easily replace anything lost by Giannis.

And unless Giannis takes a big leap with his game in summer league (which he could), Giannis isn't selling anymore tickets for next year. Parker? He'd sell another 100,000 tickets.

From a basketball standpoint, it is plausible Giannis becomes a better player than Parker, but I wouldn't bet on it. From a marketing standpoint, Parker crushes him on day one.

Even in middle school, if I could see a kid shying away from physical contact, who was also a good player, we could make sure to exploit that and "take him out of plays". I think that can be a result of everything being "organized" and not many neighborhood pick-up games. I learned to play physical at the neighborhood park, certainly not some organized rec league type thing.

There's no shortage of physical basketball in Australia. :D

From day one, I agree. Being the #2 pick will do that. But I think Giannis has a better chance at being special more than Parker does (and I like Jabari, don't get me wrong), especially as a 2-way player.

So, I could see Giannis having a bigger impact on sales/marketing in the long run.

All the good euros stayed. I'd love Micic in the 2nd and I'd also love to trade back into the 1st at some point to land Nurkic or Capela. Saric would probably cost too much IMO. Although I wouldn't be opposed to landing him either as long as it didn't cost Knight, Sanders, Henson or any future 1sts.

It's less "safe" than taking Jabari, but it's probably the right thing to do. If Wiggins turns into T-Mac (minus the attitude) on Philly, and Jabari is just a lesser Melo, then you guys are going to want to kill yourselves. Sometimes you have to take a risk, and this isn't much of a risk IMO. Don't let the 76ers screw you.

yea and if parker turns into melo with a better attitude and wiggins turns into gerald green we'll feel the same way

honestly it gets a little old hearing "parker is the safe pick, wiggins is the amazing potential pick"

they both have amazing potential or they wouldn't both be so damn close in GMs and scouts minds. they just have much different games.
