Yep. Love this thought.

I advocated this a few days before Philly declined his option. Now, I'm less than motivated to make a move for him. He isn't exactly solving the problem we have - he's a below-average rebounder and an even worse defender than Moose.

I'd send them Vaughn as a swap of pending FAs.

Wouldn't it be borderline impossible to extend with him? Aren't you guys close to the salary cap limit or slightly over cap for next year and that's without extendig Jabari IIRC.

As long as the first round pick is concerned is DOESN'T matter as long as it's lottery protected because you have to look at it like you have Giannis for 2 more years after this season, need to start competing now if you want to keep him long term.

Bledsoe will come off the bench at first, but Middletion should be the guy going to the bench, the second unit is desperate for a scorer, this allows Middleton to fire away, plus he can be in at the end of games.

I'm fine with buying low on Okafor, but he can't rebound or defend to save his life; he wouldn't exactly be helping our biggest weaknesses right now.

I'd take a flier on him, he's only 21 and has got the tools of the guy we're looking for. Would much rather take a chance on him than sign a Jake Voschul or whoever type scrub body to fill the hole.

Wouldn't that add like 8 mil and put us waay over the tax next year?

That's why I reacted that way. Kidd was a 10x All-Star PG.

I like the trade, but if it keeps us from resigning Jabari (who I still think will be a borderline all star) then it’s really a Monroe, Parker, first for Bledsoe. Not nearly as good. Let’s hope we can clear salary or the owners are willing to pay the tax.

It's a decent thought, but Okafor doesn't exactly have muscle. He's big, but soft. Never been much of a rebounder. Essentially yet another offensive option in the starting lineup. And we'd have to give up our 2nd for him at least, clearing out this draft.

Somebody should open a goodbye thread for Monroe.
He never really fit in our system but he was always a very likable player.

Wouldn't it be lovely if Kidd followed this move by upping the tempo now that they literally don't have an anchor weighing down the offense whenever he's on the court?

I know it hasn't happened since Monroe got hurt, but it's wishful thinking.

The Good:
The team desperately needed a playmaker on offense to take some pressure away from Giannis. Khris can't do it...and Brogdon, while being a nice facilitator, isn't a playmaker. Now there is a guy who can break down defenses, is quick, plays solid defense...and can create his own shot. Bucks were on the top of his list of destinations...so there is a perfect fit really. The Bucks were able to get him without giving up any of the "core" pieces that nobody was really ready to just give away, and are part of the long-term plan that the regime has been building here.

The Bad:
Regardless of what you think, first round picks are still great assets. You can't hit a home run if you don't get an at-bat. They're even more valuable in cities/markets like Milwaukee which isn't a free-agent destination. Furthermore, Monroe's expiring contract is a huge asset that might've been ore valuable the closer we got to the deadline. Also, in giving up Monroe our bench just went from bad to worse. Our rebounding just went from horrible, to non-existent. For all of Monroe's weaknesses....he was an elite closer, and can get tough buckets. Yes, he is a dying breed...but that breed still has value in tight games when you need to close out the opponent.

The Ugly:
None of this matters cuz Kidd is still the coach and sucks ass.

Pick is lottery protected. Also sending a 2nd rounder.

i know it's lottery protected. still, you can't hit a home run if you don't get a chance to take a swing.

No it doesn't change that. Nor does it change the Kidd problem overall. And it puts the Bucks up against the luxury tax next year also.

But it does have these huge benefits:

a) Bucks finally have that dynamic athletic guard they've always lacked

b) With said new guard, Kidd is now more accountable if he can't turn the ship by the trade deadline

c) The 3-4 headed center thing ends. Thon and Henson know now they've got to bring it.

I'm good with this move. Not risk free as we all have reservations about Bledsoe's knees. But they needed to make this trade.

You guys want to hear something nuts? If we would have traded Plumlee for Dwight Howard, we probably would have won the East.

(Max about to And-1 this into infinity and beyond)

the bucks can still sign Jabari.....might have to pay the luxury tax, but that shouldn't be a concern for billionaire owners

You can also hit into a triple play by swinging as well. Vaughn, Wilson, and possibly thon would be our triple play

fwiw the implication was I dont think Bledsoe is an 'allstar type' PG anymore. 28 with bad knees in last couple years of his contract, I don't want to resign this guy.
