Bobby was the only player outside giannis that was great on both ends for the entire game. Really loved his interview after, where he admitted to being depressed during the offseason and that his decision to join the team was the best thing he's ever done in his life. Hit me in the feels a little bit.

Based on that post game interview, one of my boys immediately hit on that BOBBY has to go on WTF. Imagine the opening.

If Portis agreed to the taxpayer MLE with a player option after one year, what’s the most he gets from the Taxpayer MLE and what could the Bucks pay him after the opt out?

Best contract we can offer is consecutive 1 year deals starting with the taxpayer MLE into resigning with early bird rights into resigning with full bird rights. This is what we could offer offer:
2021/22: $ 5,890,000
2022/23: $ 6,184,500 (PO) -> Opt out into $ 10,822,875
2023/24: contract with full bird rights

If he can get like 15m from a decent team I can't see how he stays. But maybe I'm wrong.

One potential correction: I think a contract using early Bird rights has to have at least 2 years guaranteed - but I'm not positive on that.

A team may re-sign its early qualifying veteran free agent using the Early Qualifying Veteran Free Agent Exception (i.e., by using its “Early Bird” rights). That player:

(i) may get a salary up to the greater of (a) 175% of the player’s salary in the last season of the prior contract, or (b) 105% of the average player salary for the prior season;

(ii) may have his compensation increase (or decrease) each season by 8% (instead of 5%); and

(iii) must have a contract covering at least 2 years, not including any option year (and 4 years is the max length of the contract).

So that would change things slightly, but other than that, yeah, you nailed it.

Pretty sure you're correct. That's even more money to give up for Bobby. I just don't see how he's back.

The defense he played tonight was spectacular. In many ways he’s played like Tim Thomas did back in the day.

Of course now someone will give him a huge contract we can’t match, but that’s ok. He’s our Desmond Howard. Props to Bobby.

Tim Thomas against the Pacers in 2000 was it? That was the first time I understood why you pay for upside. He dominated that series and made many of us think he could be the best player on the team. And the Bucks paid before anyone else could.

Bobby still hasn't peaked but it's going to depend on the team, coach and system. Do I love him? Oh yes. Like I loved Nyjer Morgan for a year. I loved his post-game interview, Jrue basically pulling a fast one on Malika before she could do anything about it, Bobby just stepping up and assuming it was his turn. Man that was so lovely.

And props to Malika on a job well done.

Bobby will always be a Bucks legend. That Game 6 performance was incredibly important and - next to Giannis's GOAT-level play - the reason why we were able to close it out.

Its already been said, but I feel like Bobby’s resurgence here (will lead to him signing elsewhere but also) lead to other guys coming out of a bad situation to sign a similar 1and1 contract here with a player option to come rehab their name and game in a player friendly scheme.

after how the fans embraced him and how he said he was in a depressive state before coming to the bucks snd took less money to come here I really hope he stays. But I totally understand not wanting to turn down a 3/4 year contract of over 40 million

we also need to start a grassroots campaign among local business to do business endorsements to help finance his return. perhaps even some crowd funding here and be our spokesperson on the board. if it gets big enough we can pay him ourselves to do bucks board commercials.

the nba office can come and get us if they dont like it

Obviously would love for him to stay but totally understand him moving to earn more cash.

That being said, he’s definitely earned some Bobby chants when he comes to visit Fiserv (at least to start the game) for the rest of his career.

Gruber could supplement his income quite a bit. Bobby with “One Call, That’s All” would be great for business.

Kind of sucks that we can’t resign Bobby because of cap ramifications. If we can’t sign a role playing guy like him, how can we possibly sign anyone of value to improve this team? Only way is shooting darts on 1 year contract malcontents and hope they work out?
