Good news. Dame can still be Dame. Bad news. Can he and Giannis play together?

Dame and Giannis just need to find the right balance. Dame getting knocked down 15 times a game is probably not great for a deep playoff run. He doesn't need to run every possession but he should be the go to when we need a bucket.

But it's a good problem to have. Just need to figure out how to get two top 75 players to work together. It sure beats the old Giannis problem of having Giannis as Plan A, B, and C, and nothing else if that's not working.

Giannis stalls the offense by standing around, demanding the ball, he doesn't really do anything off ball screening wise or cutting to force the defense to react, he's slow asf to pass so even when the defense does shift they have already recovered by the time he passes. He also effs our spacing by moving towards the PnR handler trying to ask to get the ball back which brings his man into help position and shrinking the space for the dribbler to do anything. Also anytime he shoots a pull up jumper is pretty much an objectively bad possession unless there's literally no time left on the shot clock. Factor in the travels and offensive fouls and he wastes a large amount of offensive possessions despite his insane efficiency (which is buoyed by being arguably the best transition finisher in history). Also because of his absurd demanding to play on-ball, he diminishes Dame's biggest strength as a player and relegates him to a spot up shooter, so there is no additive to value offensively to having those 2 players together.

This is basically the long way of saying, the offensive issues are Giannis-centric almost entirely. We have seen that Giannis-centric offense does not remotely translate in the post season vs good teams, that approach does not lead to effective offensive play despite his huge volume. Dame on the other hand is able to lead a strong offense running things through him, his issue is that he is not a good defender. The obvious solution is that offense runs through Dame as the main handler, lead guard, primary decision maker, and Giannis falls in line behind that. Giannis is a DPOY caliber defender and in theory, on paper, should be able to function beautifully playing off an elite guard. But his approach is crap far too much of the time, just an incredibly selfish and stupid brand of basketball. Like a bigger, more talented Corey Maggette on offense way too much of the time.

Doesnt say much for prunty then does it all that is on our coach for not installing the O around dame handling the ball.If our HC/ass clown prunty dont demand screens from giannis dont demand giving dame the ball thrn this isnt on giannis its on AG for letting giannis keep doing it.
Giannis got his wish playing with dame he needs to grow the fu.. up n start playing with him.

P.S. beas is having a good game tonight

Those who blast Dame for "bad body language" in losses please note he's exactly the same tonight. And every game he plays.

Looks like Middleton is going to have around 20 mins again. It would be good to understand the thinking behind this not ramping up.

Not saying Giannis doesn't have some things to learn for sure, but let's not act like this is the Dame that's been playing the last few games. Giannis had no choice, but to will it just to be competitive

Yes Giannis hasn't been helping Dame but Dame shooting 37% on high volume was mostly on Dame. Let's see these guys tomorrow when the bright lights of the IST Friday night

Giannis didn't specify he'd let Dame be Dame exclusively when he isn't on the floor.

Having a halftime score like this is nice for my mental health at least. Good to see.

It would be a bad look for Giannis if Dame gets 50+ and we win by like 25.

A player who can get to the line at will AND make free throws is going to be such a winning ticket in the playoffs.

It's hilarious and predictable.

I said before the game either Dame plays horrible and people trash him or he plays well and it becomes a "Giannis is standing in Dame's way" narrative.

Y'all MFs are predictable and just destined to be negative about anything and everything.

Of course this board is trying to manufacture a Dame/Giannis problem, rather than talk about how the defense has been awesome. Switches are happening smoothly, players are communicating. The problem was never Griffins system, just the execution of that system.

It's halftime. Ask after the end of four quarters. Do you really want Midds at 36mpg @ 8 10 12 games into the season? They've got a lotta sh|t to mesh together and obvs need to find out what works, and one thing that doesn't mean is pointlessly overrelying on our most consistent long-term scorer. All he needs is to get in sync; he doesn't need extra burn and neither do the Bucks.
