I really like the Rob Zombie Halloween movies. Evil Dead remake is great too.

The Crow, Event Horizon, first two Alien movies. You're Next, Don't Breathe, Monster Squad, The Thing.

The Cabin in the Woods is a meta comedy horror but it's one my favorite movies ever.

Anybody check out The Substance yet? Demi Moore was awesome in it. If you like body horror like The Fly, you might like this. The third act is a wild ride.

I loved Conclave. Had never heard of it before yesterday. Went in completely blind. Probably my favorite movie of the year.

They should have made 10 more limited series of just The [Adjective] Pope

The Old Pope
The Loud Pope
The Slippery Pope (this is a conman series and no popes appear)

Definitely a Horror/Comedy, but it has become a tradition of ours to watch Tucker & Dale vs. Evil each Halloween season.

For as much as I love Brando, it's wild that I never put together that Billy Zane looks exactly like him:

Top to bottom in order of favorite to least. Smile 2 is really the only one I flat out didn't like, though. Not much I loved this year but I would have a tier break after Freaks. That's the one I felt strongest about.

For anyone interested, my friends in DC get together every Sunday in October to watch a scary movie (and a double feature the final week) and vote on our movie each week bracket style. Not necessarily voting on the best movie but rather just the movie that we want to watch. I won the award this year for "Best Voter", meaning that the movies I voted for advanced more often than anyone else's votes.

The Redemption Bracket at the bottom isn't updated in the spreadsheet, but The Babadook is what ultimately won there; was between The Babadook and The Host.

Those are funny divisions. Paranormal Activity over Jaws is wild, though.

It took me a while to get into, but I ended up loving Bad Monkey. Slow to begin with, but the back half was so great.

I can only understand some of these decisions under the logic of "I've seen the other one a million times". [REC] over The Thing? Only way it makes sense.

I am one of the ones that voted Paranormal Activity. Like I said, more about what we're in the mood for rather than what's the best scary movie. I haven't seen Paranormal in awhile but I'll never forget seeing that one in theaters and was in the mood for reliving that.

Finishing the month off with The Babadook and REC was a hell of an ending; had never seen either of them but they were both very, very good.

Edit: Should also say we're all in our young 30s so movies like Paranormal Activity, The Ring, etc. are our nostalgic scary movies rather than the classics like Jaws, The Shining, etc.

I find horror to be a tricky genre to define at times. I'd probably leave "Jaws" off of a horror list altogether even though I consider it one of the best movies ever, but would include "Alien" even though they're both basically monster movies. I suppose because of the lack of a supernatural element.

I think Alien or Aliens was one of the winners of our brackets last year. Also having now seen it, I don't think I'd really categorize 10 Cloverfield Lane as a horror movie but it was a very good thriller.
